It's funny to see Skylar in Walt's corner now, even if it is done somewhat begrudgingly. I'm struck by the scene in one of the season 5A episodes where Walt shows Skylar the watch Jesse gave him, explaining that Jesse had wanted to kill him once too. After watching Skylar and Walt at the car wash, and then watching her tend to him in the bathroom, there's no doubt that ol WW was right once again.

I also appreciated the moments where they manage to humanize Walt again. When he's trying to get Skylar on the phone and rushing around, it was all very reminiscent of the early seasons and just another reminder that as bad as Walt is, he still gets rattled and freaks out just like you'd expect someone in over their head to react.
The second moment was when Walt offered to give himself up if Skylar promised to keep the money for the kids, saying "Please don't let me have done all this for nothing." Just a reminder that even though it was once a very specific number, Walt understands that he'll never get to appreciate the spoils of his labor. Again, I'm reminded of the 5A episode where he explains to Jesse that he "sold his son's birthright" in Grey Matter for a couple of months rent. As crazy/evil/maniacal as he's become, I still don't doubt that he believes he's in this for family.
