taint98's wild-@ass theory of the day:

There has been one character throughout the series that nobody ever seems to notice. This mysterious gentleman has always been around, lurking in the background or just off screen, and the audience have only had the pleasure of his company in a few short, almost unnoticeable instances. His name is Louis, and who has always just been Walt Jr's unimportant friend will finally, after 6 seasons, serve as the catalyst of one of the most anticipated reveals in television history. "Confessions" is not about Walt or Skylar or Hank or Jesse confessing anything. It's about Walt Jr getting caught w/ blue meth and confessing that Louis got him hooked on it. That preview shot with Walt & Skylar in a restaurant waiting on another couple...they were waiting on Walt Jr & Louis (or maybe Louis' parents). At some point Walt somehow manages to get Louis alone to discuss the dangers of meth. When the angst-ridden Louis calls Walt a nerdy old man who knows nothing about meth, Walt goes all "Heisenberg" on him and reveals his secret identity in a heated rage...not unlike the scene when he revealed that he is the one who knocks to Skylar. Louis freaks out and tells Walt Jr before Walt can stop him. At that point, Walt and Skylar are forced to sit Walt Jr down and reveal who they really are. Walt Jr totally freaks and hops in his PT Cruiser and starts hauling ass to Hanks or the police station or something. Walt gives chase and a car chase ensues. The episode ends with Walt running Jr off the road to stop him from going to the cops and Jr dying in the crash. Walt is mortified at his actions, but the damage is done.

If only Louis had never started using meth... Damn you Louis!!

Here's a theory I just read and some of my own elaborations on it. How hard would it be for Walt to frame Hank as Heisenberg? Hank was the one who got hit by the cartel, he spends a lot of time away from work that could be used to cook, he's older and bald so he fits the description, etc. Could this be Walt's solution so he saves himself but doesn't have to kill family, just stick him in jail? Fake his own death, trash the house, pin it on Hank. Noone is going to believe it was the nerdy brother in law and besides, he's dead. Hank is in jail but alive and Walt makes for New Hampshire. When he comes back with the machine gun, it could be to get the money, or maybe in a fit of altruism he's going to use Todd's prison connections to break him out. The problem is how does Jesse fit in because he knows the truth. Probably not going to happen but interesting to think about.

"confessions" will be Walt and Skylar telling Jr whatever it is they're gong to tell him, plus Jr and Lewis confessing something right back to them. maybe the boys have been smoking pot, and Jr figured out some time ago who his dad was.

On the ricin - if he wants to use it to kill someone, why go there for it? why wouldn't he just make some more?

Hank's been trying to find Heisenberg desperately for over a year. Nobody in the DEA would buy it, especially Gomie.

Actually I bet Walt would put some info together and give an anonymous tip to Gomie and just let him figure it out. If Hank can believe his brother in law is a criminal mastermind, Gomez can believe his boss is.

It would explain why hank gave up the job in el paso to stay closer to the cook site, why the cartel hit him, why tio wanted to see him etc. Why was he ever at Tuco's place to start with? To kill Tuco to take out the competition, obviously. Why did he beat up Jesse? Same idea.

Hank getting framed would be the dumbest possible ending to that plotline. The guy with no chemistry background has the ability to make the purest meth anyone has ever seen, and people actually believe that? The guy that initially brought the Heisenberg case to light is Heisenberg, himself? The guy that has been so dedicated to his job, somehow has the time for a side job as the most successful meth distributor in the Southwest? Not to mention that he has no businesses to speak of that would indicate an ability to launder money through. Exactly what evidence would they have to go on other than he was a DEA agent who killed a couple of drug dealer/cartel members who attacked him?

Flashforwards are actually what Walt is seeing as he's dying in his deathbed. What he wishes he could've done before he checked out.

Walt takes the ricin and slowly drifts away...

Cut to real time - Hank slaps him on the shoulder and he snaps back to reality. Gomie and Hank are laughing at him. "you were in lala land there, buddy", Hank says. Walt is still on the original ride along and day dreamt the whole story. The next Monday he is back in the classroom.

Do any of you literary analysis geniuses want to take a crack at this poem about "confessions" from Leaves of Grass (the book that inadvertently revealed Walt's true identity to Hank)?

quote:
296. O Bitter Sprig! Confession Sprig!

O BITTER sprig! Confession sprig!
In the bouquet I give you place also—I bind you in,
Proceeding no further till, humbled publicly,
I give fair warning, once for all.

I own that I have been sly, thievish, mean, a prevaricator, greedy, derelict,
And I own that I remain so yet.

What foul thought but I think it—or have in me the stuff out of which it is thought?
What in darkness in bed at night, alone or with a companion?

-Walt Whitman
Leaves of Grass

The two people in the chairs with Skyler and Walt are Marie and Hank. Walter gives Hank fair warning that if Hank pursues Walter, Walter will do what he feels needs to be done and continue with his sly, thievish, mean, greedy, derelict ways to protect his family.

The seasons continue to get darker and darker and this one won't be any different.

This is likely referring to Walt Jr. lying in bed at night thinking about breakfast.

Does he want to go to the kitchen and bring a bowl of Captain Crunch ("a companion") into bed and have "in me the stuff out of which is thought"?
Or will he remain "alone" in darkness waiting for the smell of Skyler frying up some crispy, tasty bacon.

taint98's analysis of the poem and daily wild @ss prediction:

I think the opening line of the poem means the author (Walt) is apologizing to someone who is angry at him. He says he provided a sense of purpose but then forbid the person to leave. This leads me to believe he's either talking to Jesse or Sylar.

The author (Walt) then admits to having been a horrible person and admits that he still is.

He then admits that he is capable of far worse things than the other person knows about and has actually carried them out. The final line reveals that it's Skylar he's talking to.

Will all of this in mind, Skylar has pledged to support Walt, but she only knows SOME of the things he's done. I think Walt will admit everything to her, or at least a lot more than he has already, because he thinks she will have his back. Instead of being supportive, she freaks the f out. Either due to being in the heat of the moment, or because it's apparent that she's about to go to Hank, Walt kills her to save himself.
