I know there are tons of threads about this show, but I have avoided them all because I knew I would one day watch the series.

I started it last night and I am on to episode 4.

Some parts have seemed slow to me, but I think they are doing this to build a bond with the characters, so it doesnt bug me that much.

what is texags opinion of this show and what kind of ride am i in for? I would love to hear thoughts on the entire series but please avoid any spoilers.

Agreed. That's the most amazing thing to me. It started out so great and only got better.

Starts slow the first few episodes, next thing you know you're series binging. Kiss your weekends goodbye.

The character development is at a completely different level in this show than anything you've probably seen before. That requires slow parts at times instead of car chases & explosions. It even requires silence, awkward pauses, and subtle facial expressions to truly get the characterization across to the viewer.

This show creates suspense and anticipation like no other I've ever seen. And it's usually done with little or no action. And the suddenly...all hell breaks loose.

Totally agree with the "it gets even better" crowd.

S1 is good
S2 is great (love the pink bear scenes)
S3 is awesome
S4 is freaking fantastic
First half of season 5 has been just as good as 4. "Dead Freight" and "Say My Name" might be my favorite episodes of the series.

Also LOVED "ABQ" "One Minute" "Crawl Space" and "Salud" are also up there for me.

Does not frighten me. Did it with Fringe last month, then just did it with game of thrones.

DO NOT GIVE UP ON THIS SERIES. I watched the first few episodes live and stopped watching it. I thought it was good, but not good enough that I felt I needed to dedicate an hour a week for. Then when the show started generated a tremendous amount of hype after the 2nd and 3rd season, I went back to it. Again, I Just thought it was okay. But once I got into the 2nd season, the show just took off. The first season is by far the weakest season, and it just gets better every season. It's one of my top 3 shows of all time.

Dead Freight was freaking intense.

Everytime a thread like this is created, I get extremely jealous. I wish I could watch it again for the first time.

I've never got the whole "it starts slow" thing. Was he supposed to kill someone in the first 30 seconds? I thought it was pretty intense from the get go.

just started it as well and also on Ep 4.

i personally like it already very much but my wife thinks its too slow.

I didn't think the first season was slow, I just didn't think it was that great.

I am in the minority on this one.

I could hardly get through the first season. The dialogue felt dumbed down and forced while most of the characters were so cartoonish and unrealistic (in a bad way) that they were hard to watch (DEA agent, Tuco?, Jesse). Then again I loved Twin Peaks so maybe it's because that show didn't take itself too seriously and I just enjoyed the surrealness of it. Anyway, apparently BB gets better, and I'm sure that eventually I'll continue the series and maybe I'll change my mind about it.

I also admit that I might be too hard on this show since it came on the heels and success of Mad Men (one of my favorite shows ever).

So don't be too hard on me. Just my opinion after one season.

Let's just say, if I could pay someone to erase the part of my brain that recalls all of the Breaking Bad episodes so that I could watch it again fresh from the beginning...

I would.

Mad Men is one of the most annoyingly boring shows I've ever seen. It does not even come close to the greatness of Breaking Bad.

Some interesting opinions on here. Both Breaking Bad and Mad Men are in my top 5 favorite shows. I think both are great.

Incorrect. The Texags opinion is that The Wire is the best show ever created, with Breaking Bad currently at a close second (of course this has room to change).

Also, Texags hates Skyler. I'm in the minority on that. I hated Marie, instead.

Where can I get the first half of Season 5? I was watching on Netflix and got through Season 4, but can't seem to get the first half of Season 5 on reruns on AMC and it isn't on Netflix yet.

Comes out on DVD this coming Tuesday. I think it takes 30 days after DVD release to hit Netflix.

Really? I thought Season 5 hadn't even completely aired yet and was re-starting this summer. I am anxious to start watching Season 5!

Not sure if what's coming up later this summer is the 2nd half of season 5 or if it will be called season 6. Either way, the 8 episodes that aired last year come out on DVD on Tuesday.

Just watched the first three seasons and loved it. Great series overall and looking forward to Season 4.

OK, well it looks like I will spend my 4th of July jumping into Season 5!

First half of season 5 is available on amazon streaming. Somewhere around $24.

I was late to the party in watching Breaking Bad. Got hooked and finished off the first 4 seasons in like two weeks via Netflix. If youre like me OP and can't wait to watch the first part of season 5 so you can get caught up before it airs let me know. I know a few free "alternative" methods to watch it online in pretty good quality.

I watch "alternative" sites all the time.

He's not talking about gay midget beastiality porn.
