Damn. That sucks.
Wait til I get to tell my daughter tomorrow that we aren't going.

You're a great dad for trying. Sometimes that is really all you can do. Feeling like you let your kid down is the worst. Would tie me up in knots.
Let me tell you a story about the opposite side of that coin. I think it was 2003. Wife and I had a block of four season tickets in the Zone Club. Morning of the tu game the other couple going had to back out. We got to CS and just decided to sell the extra two tickets outside Kyle which would be easy enough.
This guy walks up to me with his daughter, both are decked out in A&M gear. She's probably 6 or 7, bows in her hair, cute as can be. Tells me he had promised his daughter that no matter what he was going to take her to this game. I offered to sell them for face value. He starts digging through his wallet he doesn't have enough cash. He then goes on to tell me he got laid off earlier in the year and still hadn't found a job, thanks, but he would see if he could find something cheaper. I told him just to take the tickets and enjoy the game, we'll see you inside. I thought he was going to start crying.
Hour or so later we get to our seats and there is a young couple in the seats I gave away. I asked them where they got the tickets and they told me some guy with a little girl sold them to them. I asked how much and they said a lot, three times the face value, but what the heck right. Then they told me the guy told them he had lost his job and was out of money so he drove up from Houston to sell his tickets to hopefully get enough for them to afford Christmas presents for his kids.
I about puked.
