Cena's heel turn is the WWE lifting its leg and relieving itself on all the Make a Wish kids whose spirits were lifted and encouraged by having a hero figure to look up to.

There were plenty of ways to satisfy the bloodthirst of fans who are of the "build 'em up and then tear 'em down" ilk rather than taking this path.

I hope the weight of what he's done to those kids settles like a two-ton pachyderm on Cena ... and any/all who played a role in the decision.

Way to flush a legacy, Triple H.
Lighten up, Francis. Maybe this would be a good time for parents to have a conversation with their child and point out that the plot of pro wrestling is fiction. That the real John Cena is a good guy who spent some time hanging out with you, and he isn't the character he plays on television. When my son was young and watched wrestling, I was always clear that these guys are actors and stuntmen who put on a really entertaining show, but they know who is going to win or lose before they wrestle. This never seemed to hurt his enjoyment of the show.

Plus, I don't know how many young kids are fans of Cena...he hasn't really been an active part of WWE in a long time. Cody has essentially replaced him at the ultimate face.

Lighten up Francis is probably one of the most dismissive and arrogant statements that can be offered in the midst of an actual conversation -- whether face to face or online.

So you'll pardon me if I ignore it and continue to hold my own opinion.

I will agree with you about the value of having the conversations that you mentioned -- if the child is capable and able to process such conversations. Kudos to you for having that conversation. That said, I'd wager -- and I suspect you'd be willing to do likewise -- that most parents don't.

Some kids may be able to handle that kind of conversation. Others (on the spectrum or with learning disabilities or special needs -- likely will not.

The heel turn makes even less sense when you're dealing with someone who's been a babyface (except for a very, very brief period at the outset) for his entire career ... as he's walking out the door.

Regarding whether Cena is still popular with the kids: when you look at the merch sales, I suspect Cena still holds more sway with the young kids than we might think.

In closing, I wouldn't be surprised to see Cena pivot at some point in the match and redeem himself and his rep. In fact, I'll be surprised if that's not the way it goes down.

But in the meantime, you've still got this unnecessary window of time where youngesters who have viewed Cena as their hero feel unnecessarily confused and betrayed.
Be more concerned with your character than with your reputation. Your character is what you really are while your reputation is merely what others think you are.

Heel Cena will lose to Punk at Summer Slam and his face turn will begin and will cumulate with him turning on the Rock at survivor series. He will be a hero again.

I was 11 years old, holding a Hulk Hogan action figure, watching Monday Nitro as Tony Schiavone explained what happened at Bash at the Beach 1996. I had spent the week prior thinking about nothing else but "who's the 3rd man?!" - we couldn't afford the PPV, and there was no Twitter/X, so I had to wait until 8/7ct on Monday night to find out.

They teased early that something unbelievable happened, but I didn't believe it until I saw it. Hogan hit the ring and dropped the big leg on the Macho Man. Needless to say, I was absolutely crushed.

I paced my room and cut the promo of a lifetime on the man who had been my hero literally as long as I could remember. I had spent the last 6 years+ saying my prayers and taking my vitamins. And now here he was, wearing all black, telling me to STICK IT.

And then…I made a decision. Hogan was my guy for my entire wrestling life…and that wasn't going to change. I found an old black t-shirt in my closet and a can of white spray paint in my garage and I went from Hulkamaniac to NWOite.

Hogan's heel turn didn't destroy my fandom…it reinvigorated it. I was never a bigger Hogan fan than when he was "Hollywood".

The same will be the case for most of the Cena fans. They may not side with heel-Cena, but their wrestling fandom will hit another level. If he can pull this off, it will be the best thing possible for the business and for the fans (young and old).

Hogan's turn at Bash '96 is still a top 5 moment in my wrestling fandom. This is a net-good. Just sit back and enjoy what should be a fun run.

The kids will be OK.

Was not expecting that ending last night. Assuming they are setting up Triple Threat between Iyo, Bianca, and Rhea.

Potential Hot Take: Rhea's character isn't that interesting when she is on her own...

Has Cena been on tv since the heel turn? I don't get to watch week to week, but this one intrigues me.

I feel like Cena has a lot of character building to do if he's going to go full heel and really make heel Cena work. Seems like he would need time to build up the new persona.

Judging by the clips I've seen of his promo on Raw today...yeah i think its gonna turn out ok.

Good episode of Raw today, I enjoyed the early start time ha.
Bron Breakker is one of my current favorites but he does have some work to do at selling others moves (I say from my couch haha).

Solid heel promo by Cena. Did some vintage heel moves. Loved the fake walkout at the beginning…classic heel. Played the victim, blame the fans. "I'm not the one who betrayed you…you betrayed me!"

Not typically a big Cody fan, but he played his part well. Should be a fun run.

Now the question is: do they give Cody the ultimate push by putting him over at WM? Or do they give Cena a run as a heel champion, which could be a TON of fun!

Cody is a very weak champion. I think the WWE knows this. He's average at best with the mic (that lisp is bad). They have to bring in two heavyweights with the greatest mic skills to bail him out. Cena will win at WM. Book it

So WWE knows he's a weak champ, but has kept him as the world champ for over a year.

And have had plenty of opportunities to take the belt off him, but have chosen not too.

Also, no reason to put the title on heel Cena, especially when it would break the Flair record. I expect they keep that until near the end of this year when he inevitably turns back face so it becomes a big thing with the fans back cheering him.

Pro wrestling traditionally works best when there's a heel champion with a babyface chasing him. A heel Cena championship run would be epic and do some big numbers. No better way to get a heat on a heel than to put him on top and let the arrogance flow.

Add to that beating Dusty's son for the belt and breaking Flair's record and the promos just write themselves. Heel Cena: The Legend's Legend

True,. I'm just wondering if Cena has agreed to being on weekly shows if they put the belt on him. If he continues the Lesnar type schedule he's been on so far this year, I don't know if that would get over well.

Wrestling was at its peak when Sting wore colorful spandex and face paint while battling Ric Flair, and guys like Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior battled it out. I stopped watching in 1998 but all the commercial since then seem to have greasy guys wearing black, no face paint or color other than Cena's jorts.

And then bring in the Legend Killer to take him out.

Anyone who says wrestlers are not tough and that the action is fake should have seen the shot that Moxley took tonight against Copeland. Moxley got suplexed onto a spiked bat and the spikes stuck into Moxleys back so much that yuta and the referee had a hard time pulling the spiked bat out of his back. Moxley was walking around the ring with a bat hanging out of his back.

I saw clips on social media. I'm not a fan of the backyard wrestling-human torture model of wrestling. Moxley is a tough as nails, but there is nothing entertaining about that. That is carnival freak show stuff.

That spot was insane and Mox took it like an absolute BEAST!! I can't even believe he was willing to do it as so much could have gone wrong and may have, but he is as dedicated to his art as anyone!! Made for a great moment and was produced well even down to the close up shots of his face and the carnage.

I could see that. I'd also love to see two of the hardest workers in the busines -- and who busted themselves to bounce back following significant injuries -- in either Randy Orton or A.J. Styles (and, preferably in that order).

Cody loses to Cena, Cena ultimately loses to Orton with Cody somehow influencing the win for Orton. Cena has a face turn at the end (turns on the Rock and maybe his last match is a victory over Rock) as he walks off in the sunset. Makes way too much sense.
Bunk Moreland
How long do you want to ignore this user?
And that face turn is brought on by the Guiness World Record for total number of make a wish kid wishes granted in a single day when 100 of them walk out, and heel Cena turns back to them, remembers where his priorities lie, and goes in to take down Rocky.

Cena will lose his last match. He respects the tradition of the business too much.

There will definitely be a face turn before he does (maybe even during his final match), but he'll end by putting someone over…he'll have a heel run as champ and then lose the title to either Cody or the next man up.

Official theme song for wrestlemania is Timeless…..obviously Cena is gonna win.

Jelly Roll performed Liar at Summerslam then Dom turned on Rhea.

I know it's reaching but it would be pretty cool if HHH has been foreshadowing results with song pics.
