I did see some random Asian version snippet of the Thor trailer this morning on YouTube - featuring Thor, post-TVA Loki, and Short Round.

I'm not sure I'd pay to go see Avatar even if I got to watch Doomsday immediately after.

I can't take credit for this idea because I saw in on YouTube, but what if the first scene of Doomsday is alt-Tony Stark hammering away to make the Dr. Doom mask just like Endgame ends with the sound of Tony Stark doing so in the cave with the first Ironman suit?

How many times you gonna see the super-sized episode of Mandalorian though?

My daughter showed me a theory last night. Maybe you all have discussed it, but I am too lazy to go back and see.

Anyhow, if Captain America (Steve Rogers) were to somehow time travel and get back with the Avengers, would he be the only one that knows who Spider-Man is and that he is Peter Parker?

There should definitely be a universe shown where the Avengers are a band.

Now that I've wasted time considering this, does Steve actually know Spider-Man is Peter Parker?

They meet during the airport fight in Berlin, and other than exchanging what part of NYC they are from, they only interact for 3-5 minutes. Then Steve and Bucky and Tony are in Siberia. After Steve rescues Sam and Renner and whoever else is in that ocean prison, we presume he's vanished from official Avenger activity until he gets the call in Infinity War. I don't think he does know other than if he walks up and says hi, I'm Peter Parker, at Tony's funeral.

It had to have been discussed in the five years after the snap.

Tony even gets off the Benatar and says "I lost the kid". Steve knew what he meant.

This isn't really indicative of much, but I was surprised at how there was essentially zero reaction in the theater for this teaser. We got the Cap one.

Now granted, it's basically a nothing teaser, but for what it was supposed to do, which is drum up excitement, it doesn't seem to be doing that. The Odyssey got huge cheers and applause in my theater whereas this got nothing.

I think Endgame was such a good finale that this feels like it almost makes it meaningless, especially for this particular character.

I'm one of the least cynical moviegoers out there but it does feel kind of desperate. Marvel really trying hard on this one to get their fans back.

I've been saying this for a while now. The movie-going audience at-large views Endgame as exactly that - the end. And it was a great, fitting end not only because it finished that decade-long Thanos storyline but because of the impact it had stemming from the loss of Black Widow, Iron Man, and the real Capt America.

Bringing back "the ol' gang" has always felt cheap and manipulative and detrimental to the impact of Endgame. Will it be fun, and will I see it? Most likely. Am I pumped about it? Nope.

I think it's also superhero fatigue. Also, I'm not sure how anyone ever tops a 23(?) movie story arc again. I mean, it's just incredible what they pulled off with the Infinity War saga.

Obviously, Gunn is now trying to do the same thing with DC and, so far, it's not meeting the same standard. It could certainly correct course and end up being awesome because not all MCU movies were great either, but they at least started off well.

This is nitpicky but I think the perception isn't really the reality. A "decade-long Thanos storyline" was, aside from an unplanned post-credits in 2012, really just 2015-2019 and even 2015 was just connecting the dots between the stones and a Thanos post-credits. He had a cameo in 2014, but really just showed up in 2018 and died in 2019. So a 4-5 year story plus making something out of some loose macguffins, at best.

Now you could call it a decade long Iron Man storyline and you'd be mostly right, but he didn't appear in like 15 of the 23 movies.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that it doesn't take 23 films or a decade to build something and deliver on the payoff. Really what it needs is a plan and some recurring characters. Recall that most people didn't see Cap in 2011 or like him all that much in 2012, but became big fans with Winter Soldier in 2014… and then he also showed up in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019. And now he's my favorite.

And we've said it before, but that's where Phases 4 5 and 6 have truly dropped the ball. Consider, who have we seen more than once since the credits rolled on Endgame?

Off the top of my head…
- Spider-Man twice
- Sam Wilson twice
- Bucky twice
- Yelena three times
- John Walker twice
- Wanda twice
- Ms Marvel twice
- Nick Fury twice just kidding Secret Invasion didn't happen
- Rhodey twice same as above, and never in the armor
- Guardians twice (Thor, GotG 3, plus I guess a bonus for the Christmas special)

A few other minor ones, New Falcon, Ironheart, Agatha, that kind of thing.

Meanwhile, the one-appearance group is just ridiculous: Hawkeye, Hulk, Thor, Doctor Strange, Shuri, Captain Marvel, Moon Knight, She-Hulk, the Fantastic Four, Ghost, Kate Bishop, Shang-Chi, the Eternals, Ant-Man, Wasp, Deadpool, Wolverine.

Catching your breath after Endgame with no plan in mind was, in retrospect, a ridiculous decision!

You are correct, it was not a decade-long Thanos storyline.

But it was a decade-long storyline centered around the Infinity Stones.

7 years though, right? First one was 2012? Or I guess 2011 in Cap 1. But originally it was meant to be the Cosmic Cube.

Again, nitpicking, but I think even Marvel only decided to make them infinity stones in like 2013 when planning for Age of Ultron. Maybe earlier, maybe later.

It's some retroactive brilliance on Marvel's part. I wish they had some proactive brilliance for everything post-Endgame.

At this point even breaking down everything from Black Widow on into phases seems kind of arbitrary. It's just a jumbled mess of movies with about 1/4 of them being decent & the rest being mid to terrible.

So what I gather from this, knowing disneys turn to wokeness, this movie will focus on Steve being a stay at home dad taking care of the baby while Peggy is out fighting Dr. Doom.

Maybe Steve will have one of those male nursing bras but it can captain america themed.

I'm going to spoiler highlight this whole thing because I don't know if it's a wild rumor or a true thing, but my friend of a friend x 1000 degrees of separation has laid a couple of spoilers out before that turned out to be true, namely Cad Bane showing up in Book of Boba Fett. Anyway, the rumor is

Both Victor Von Doom and Tony Stark are played by RDJ in Secret Wars

He wasn't sure about Doomsday, but seemed positive bout Secret Wars

I think this is a big part of it.

I'll say this. I've never cared at all about 'comic book movies' (as I used to call them). I honestly dont know if I would have seen any of them if they hadn't started coming out as I was raising two boys.

But I ended up loving them. DC movies still seem so cartoon-y and comic book-like. But Marvel pulled off an amazing feat of giving us good movies, about childlike superheroes, with really good storylines and characters that we connected with.

These are the type of movies I like to see in the theatre. Yes, drama, romcoms, etc...all good fun, But I can watch those at home. Action movies like this are fun to see on the big screen and in surround sound with a big ole bucket of theatre popcorn.

I think there was some fatigue, but I also think you're right. Even if they were going to take a break from the Universe, they should have had a (better) plan for rolling it out at some point. Because I think many are like me, and they miss watching these movies. They're fun.

But all in all, I'm just excited for them to start rolling these out again.
