So long as it's not the New 52 Lobo.

It's a good thing Post-Crisis Lobo already took care of that

Lobo feels like a leftover form the 90s edgy period. Has he been relevant since? Maybe if they made him DC's version of Deadpool.

I know nothing about Lobo, but Michael Bay has been flirting with doing a Lobo movie for years, and I recently heard that it might be back on with him directing. Which would make sense if it's finally coming together under Gunn/Safran.
A Michael Bay movie about Lobo under Gunn?

Damn, take my money!
Brad Garrett or GTFO

Garrett is too old, but good question. Who would be the best cast choice for Lobo?

David Zaslav Promises a Unified Future for DC: 'There's Not Going to Be 4 Batmans'

With the Reeves/Pattinson iteration remaining separate, doesn't that mean there will always be at least two Batmen? And if more than one, who cares how many more at that point, re: Affleck and Keaton and whoever else? IMO, this whole "unified" thing is a bad idea. DC should be the studio that simply tells great stories across multiple universes/iterations. It should be a director-friendly haven for "experimentation" with one-offs or contained trilogies or whatever the hell else. Let "unified" be Marvel's thing. Especially if "unified" going forward just means a retooled extension/continuation of the Snyderverse.

Agreed self contained one-off or trilogies with the occasional team-up movie should be the way forward for DC. Let Marvel have one single story across multiple movies.

Also, shouldn't these types of announcements come his newly hired heads of DCU, and not from the CEO.

I'm wondering if they think Marvel has largely run its course and Marvel fatigue has set in. I'm certainly feeling it. They still have X-men and FF in the wings, but both have been done multiple times already and FF is boring.

So DC may be thinking it's their turn for a 20 yr run and have more meat on the bone than Marvel has.

Don't know. Just spitballin'.

I guess? A Reeves/Pattinson trilogy will last 'til 2028 at the earliest, though. That's three movies (2022, 2025, 2028) and who knows how many HBO Max series in between, basically running parallel with whatever Gunn/Safran are doing, for at least the next six years.

I agree. And I should clarify that I'm not at all against a unified, 10-year DC plan. I'm glad they're getting organized, especially with Gunn at the helm. I was just hoping that wasn't the *only* thing they do, and that they'd still allow other universes/iterations/one-offs. But Zaslav's Batman comments seem to contradict that. The whole thing is so confusing.

To save everyone a click: they're still searching for a writer and director, which is the same as we'd heard previously. Nothing revelatory here.

Two bits of info we didn't know previously…

- "… there's currently no formal deal with Cavill to return."

- "… Gunn and Safran's long range plan should be revealed in the next two months."

The first is a fairly significant wrinkle, while the second is a nice bit of news I figured people would like to hear.

I didn't just post some random, no-news article for the hell of it.

Once again, taking personal offense when my post was not directed towards you, but about the tweet itself.

My issue is with misleading tweets/headlines for clicks which are becoming more and more of an annoyance these days.

I'm so sorry you want to take every single thing I say as a personal affront. I guess it wasn't enough to completely manufacture a debate and hurl names at me last night.

And from my perspective, I can't post a single thing on this site without *someone* finding issue or offense with it, no matter how innocuous the post. I was simply relaying some news, because I thought people would be interested to know. But of course it has to be immediately followed with some snippy comment that the headline wasn't exactly right, or that so-and-so sucks, or that I didn't post it in a way that perfectly satisfied everyone on the board, etc. Then, of course, there are those who mock me for posting links from Twitter in general for some insane reason. And it just gets really, really old that people can't *not* say every little thought that pops into their head, every time I try to provide an update to the board.

And now, in a post or two, someone will say "You two need to get a room" or post a gif of two people slap fighting, I'll be accused of taking this stuff too personally (wait, that already happened) and round and round it goes.

"According to numerous insiders with knowledge of the situation, although it has been previously reported that the search for a writer was currently underway, the fact is there's currently no writer or director attached to the project and there's currently no formal deal with Cavill to return."

THis was not the best way to lead off that article, haha.
If there is a search underway, that means there is no writer attached.

Rest of the article was interesting though.

At this point you seem overly geared up to fight with everyone. I get the f16 garbage that rolls through but this wasn't necessary.

Maybe they are picking the fight, maybe they aren't but good god do you ever just turn the other cheek and move on? If there is even the slightest dig you go from zero to sixty in two sentences.

It didn't get the Batgirl treatment, so it has that going for it

I follow the DC movies pretty closely and there hasn't been anything that was dramatic, especially considering Batgirl and The Flash.
