I've always assumed that KGB had AA again since he said the river A couldn't have helped Mike....a bit of poetic justice if you will...

No way Mike doesn't double and triple down on that azz when its offered.
quote:That's the common assumption, which is why I would have preferred that hand have been showed instead. On the river, AA is the second nuts, and KGB assumes he is good. Would have been a shock for the audience for Mike to then flip over the nuts after stating, "you're right, the Ace didn't help me".

ok wait can someone explain what was going on all the times they played poker? like what was going on with the cards and chips and all the checking raising etc.

The hole in the story was that they didn't take advantage of Gretchen Mol's naked talents while she was still in her prime vs. letting Boardwalk Empire do it after she'd slipped a little.

Last hand with KGB, Mike of course hit the straight on the river and checked to KGB's two pair. KGB had AA earlier to trap Mike's Anna Kournikova with Aces full of Kings.

Worm originally got $2k at the Chesterfield on Mikey. He cashed out with the "white meat" at $6k.

Can somebody run the numbers at the end of The Gambler?
I keep missing an amount or two here also.
quote:Gramma paid 10 on the dollar for the debt. He starts at $25k and then drops it lower, probably because he likes Mikey. After making back the $15k, he still makes 90% of that as profit.
I think Worm cashed out $10k. Winnings + the $2k marker he got "on the finger".
Ok, so Rounders is making the nightly rounds on Showtime, Encore, etc. and I watched last night to clear up confusion about Worm's debt to Gramma. During the scene where Mike and Worm go to Gramma to work out a plan, Gramma first says that Worm owes "$25 grand", then he gets distracted by the dog and disciplines him, then they discuss a plan, Worm pops off about not needing his charity, Mike intervenes and says it is on him too, then Gramma says "you owe 15 large in 5 days or I start breaking things." So Worm didn't get seem to get credit for the roll that Gramma took earlier.
So did Worm still owe $25k total and $15k was the first installment? Was Mike only on the hook for the first 15? Otherwise, whey didn't Gramma insist on taking $25k out of the winnings on the final hand? Does Worm still owe Gramma / KGB $10k? He did say in that "as for Worm, I guess we are even" or something like that.

KGBs cards can be seen if you pause frame by frame to see them as they fly through the air. He had pocket 10s or top set.
I actually don't think Mike was in danger of being killed by Teddy KGB, even if he lost everything. He's a guy that is smart, resourceful, honorable, and can be valuable to him going forward. He's the opposite of Worm. Worm is untrustworthy, will to go on the run for the rest of his life, will borrow money with no intention of paying it back, say the wrong things to the wrong people, etc. Worm is a guy they kill and make an example of, Mike has way more value alive and in his debt than he does if he's dead.Ghost of Andrew Eaton said:
So why was Mike's life in danger if he lost that hand. He still had plenty of money to pay back the dangerous folks?
