TC, I take it from the lack of review you were disappointed?

I really enjoyed it for the most part, but I think I was unfairly comparing it too much to Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which was admittedly one of my favorite movies of last decade. The Nice Guys just didn't have quite have the same pop for me, but again, I was absolutely entertained. I just didn't end up being as wowed as I thought I would, but that's on me. I usually only write reactions if I really loved something or really hated something, and frankly I forgot to post here on this one. I will say that's it's definitely grown on me in the past couple of days for sure. I may even see it again with the family this weekend just to get a better gauge.

My parents who are young at heart and normally good judges of comedies saw it and agreed with Kashchei. They said it just wasn't funny at all, and to just watch the trailers.

I was kind of let down... It's not bad at all, but it's just not nearly as good as I was expecting from the trailers and my love of KKBB and the rest of Black's work.

A lot of the jokes missed. Story was kind of scattershot and the plot really didn't make a lot sense when you thought about it.

I found myself more lost/confused watching Kiss Kiss Bang Bang than this.

Agree with some of the above reviews. Not terrible, but I was disappointed. Some of the jokes just fell completely flat.

Such a huge gap between the trailer which was awesome and the movie...

I wish I'd have read y'all's feedback on here before going to the theater.

Interesting. Saw it last night and really enjoyed it

Really liked the characters by the end. Felt like a really long pilot for a TV show that I would appointment watch.

Glad to hear it's on hbo so I can watch again.

Saw this on a plane a couple of months ago and thought it was awesome. It's kind of like Everybody Wants Some. It would be considered an amazing movie for 2016 if it wasn't a spiritual sequel to one of the best movies of its decade.

Liked it but didn't love it. Maybe I shouldn't watch comedy trailers anymore, I felt like I knew every other joke already

just watched the trailer in the op and i can see how that could have ruined it for some. most of the good stuff was in it.

Thought it was okay. I liked all the 70s stuff. Performances were good but the story was kinda meh.

Watched it tonight, tonight, thought it was great. Nice mix of nostalgia, camp, quirk and a decent plot.

Caught this on HBO tonight. Worth a watch, I really hope Gosling gets more chances to show his comedic talents.

One of the most boring movies I've sat through in a very long time. Actually I'm pretty surprised to see people on here praising it.

I love movies. I love crow and gosling. I like, or atleast appreciate the majority of movies I see.

This movie sucked.

And yes, I was bored out of my mind.

Saw it the other night with my wife. Didn't know what it was about but we laughed our way through it and at the end agreed it was pretty funny. Look forward to seeing it again.

Saw it last night with my wife and in laws. They all loved it while I thought it was OK. I'll give an A+ to Crowe and Gosling but a B- to the actual movie.

All of the movie posters and signs. Little things like Tim Allens name on the comedy club sign when they drive by. Really ejoyed that.

When I posted Saturday night, I was definitely not expecting this kind of response / this many people to see the movie over the past few days. Been seeing a lot of social media love as well since then. Really hoping this is one of those movies that has a second life on streaming/cable and WB decides to pull the trigger on a sequel. Even after the first time I saw it, and wasn't blown away, I still really wanted a sequel after that final scene. But yeah, even more so now. This would be the perfect, low(ish)-budget franchise to revisit every few years, on into the '80s...

It just hit cable this weekend so I'm sure many people are seeing it for the first time. I think it's one of those movies that for whatever reason, bombed at the theater, but because of the critical acclaim, people still really wanted to see.

I haven't had a chance to rewatch it yet but I loved it when I saw it in theaters. I thought it was one of the funniest movies of the year. Glad people are enjoying this movie.

Gosling's physical comedy is what made this movie very enjoyable for me. Cutting his wrist punching the window, pushing open the door in the bathroom, falling down the hill drunk at the party. All were very entertaining.
I think the increase interest is HBO just started showing it.

I could see that. It has so much subtle/dry humor and quick one liners that it might be funnier on second viewing. I watched it On Demand last night and enjoyed it.
