I liked it

Non book reader that's still digging the show checking in. Although I have the same concerns about last night's ep that Baskin does. The sidekick is bad and at times cringy and can any historical buffs confirm if this is how Oswald is supposed to sound? Whiny, lispy and annoying? Teacher fox gets a pass from me though, mostly cause she's a babe.

Re: Zombie, I have actually really enjoyed Franco so far and to me this show is an interesting case study for him. IMO it's actually been really refreshing seeing him play a straight forward lead instead of in a seth rogen stoner comedy, a weird indie project that no one sees or any of the random kanye esque side projects he does. Kinda shows me he's handsome, charming and earnest enough that if he wanted to he could do a passing job at being a solid gosling hardy serious actor.

This episode really went off the rails, book-wise. And just poorly done in general, IMO. Pretty disappointing.

Haven't read book. Thought episode was decent. Im seeing a pattern here to those who read book and those who did not.

I am officially done with this show after this episode. They have gone so far away from the book and the book was the only reason I was so excited about this show. Can't say I've ever been more disappointed in an adaptation

We've all seen shows movies adapted from books and of course everyone knows that there are going to be liberties taken. Usually you have a lot of exposition and side stories that have to be trimmed down to get the pacing of tv/movie right. I think everyone expects and is ok with that. But as had been mentioned in this thread, this is something much different: rather than pare down stuff from the book, they are adding times, places, and characters that make it a fundamentally different story. I would say the only thing they share in common is the main character's name, but even that was changed for some reason.
So for folks that read the book, what they're seeing is like some weird game of telephone, where it almost sort of resembled something the point of reference they started from, but has been twisted into something almost unrecognizable.

Charpie, like I've said before, if it was just a few changes or omissions like Lord of the Rings, I would be okay with it. I just don't understand the reasoning behind it all. The book was fantastic as it was and could have been easily adapted. But this is all garbage. It is so different that it completely confuses those that read the book.

For some reason they thought they needed to compress geography and lop 2 years off the time travel to fit everything in the series.

Haven't read the book, but the "love" **** taking up more than half of the episode is getting tiresome. Four episodes in and I don't feel like the main part of the storyline is getting addressed. I'll keep watching because I love the 60s and the music is great, but I'd love to actually see where the Kennedy conspiracy is leading.

I did not care for yesterday's episode.

I have only seen the first 5 episodes. Thus far it is interesting. I didn't read the book, so I've been OK with it. My wife, who read the book, is disappointed at the changes.

Only 1 episode left for next week! The guy who plays Lee Harvey Oswald seems like a pretty good actor. I have enjoyed the show. Wondering how it all will wrap up.

I'm reading the book now. I can see why people might be up in arms over the vast difference.

I don't know that it deviates like crazy -- the basic storyline is the same, albeit with some creative license -- but there's definitely some re-ordering of events that's a little hard to follow.

I'm just seriously hoping that they don't end the show in 1963, and have some sort of resolution showing the present (like the book).

I am enjoying this adaptation though.

I really excited about the follow-up seasons where George/Jake travels back to save William McKinley and James A. Garfield.

We already know Lincoln is still vampire hunting somewhere.

Is this a mini series or is this open for another season?

I believe it is a mini series and this will be it.

Even though they've changed it a lot from the book I'm really glad they kept this to one mini-series and not do what they did to Under the Dome.

They may end it with him stopping it this season and seeing how bad everything messed up in the future. The next season could involve him rectifying his mistakes maybe? Thats if they do decide to make another one

Oh man. They wrapped it up nicely

With all the changes from the book I was worried where they would take the end. I think they did a nice job with it.

That was a pretty good finale considering how rushed the rest of the series felt compared to the book. Sadie is gorgeous!
