Thoughts on the new song?

I admit I just never tried that hard to get into King of Limbs, it felt way too much like Thom Yorke Eraser solo stuff.

This song is interesting, there's still this minimilist thing going on, but clearly a lot more Jonny Greenwood influence. Those strings remind me of his creepy score for There Will Be Blood.

Video is certainly cool.

My only real hope for this album is that Thom decides to revisit the concept of melody.

King of Limbs had some good tunes albeit it took a few listens to get used to. In Rainbows was probably my favorite album of the 2000's. OK Computer is probably my favorite album of all time.

I dig this song. I can't wait to see how it will be played live (a la live from the basement style). Really looking forward to the new album.

Yea, this is great. It's pretty cool how they continue to keep us on our toes with creative releases and mysterious leaks. Looking forward to the new album.

Not bad at all.

For me The Bends, OK Computer, Kid A is as good as you can get for a three album run. King Of Limbs just wasn't my thing. I could respect it but I NEVER listen to it. Also I saw them in Houston on that tour. It was my third time seeing them (Kid A tour and HTTT tour were other two). Concert was boring to me. I just didn't connect at all to Limbs material. I started to get into a few of the songs and then they played Paranoid Android and it was like "HOLY F! This is SOOOOOO much better."

Yes! Yes! Yes!

After watching the vid and reading the reviews I thought, "I wonder if there is a thread on texags about this... no... no way... no way in hell."

A little dark. A little creepy. A little enigmatic. Repeated listens encouraged. Perfect Radiohead!

Loving this sound. The percussive strings are pretty sweet. Like any Radiohead, it is growing on me each time a give it a listen.

Didn't love King of Limbs (thought it was good), but the B-Side "The Daily Mail" is a classic Radiohead jam. Had the privilege of hearing it live during the KoL tour at AAC in Dallas. Saw them in 1998 on the OK Computer tour (greatest album of all time) at the Fair Park Music Hall, and honestly, 15 years later and the guys still play with the same intensity. Hands down the greatest band of this generation.

Easily my favorite band that is still active. I loved "Creep" back in the day but I would have been shocked if I knew what was coming. I would have bet that they were on their way to being one hit wonders. Ditto for Beck and "Loser."

In Rainbows is such a great album - the songs are all over the place tempo and style-wise yet flow so well together. I can't put in on w/out listening to the whole thing.

This is dope. Can't wait.

Lie mentioned, I wasn't down with TKOL much. I was a HUGE fan of hail to the thief, and In Rainbows is a masterpiece.

I won't comment on the 90's / early 2000's stuff because it's timeless and we all know it.

My In Rainbows thoughts. I really like it, but:

1. Nude - Maybe I can't help it being that it was 20 years in the coming, but the final studio version just doesn't have the same epic build up, guitar strum ending that the "Meeting People Is Easy" and live versions did. I like that ending better.

2. To me the second disc is arguably better than the first. Go Slowly, Last Flowers, Bangers & Mash, 4 Minute Warning... some great songs on there, and I find myself sometimes preferring it. So it depends, when you say "In Rainbows" do you mean the one disc or two disc version?

Wow, REALLY like this one. It seems Jonny's strings arrangements may get some deserved focus on this album.

First listen, melody sounded to me very similar to Motion Picture Soundtrack from Kid A. Luckily, that's an amazing song from an amazing time in the band's evolution.

Starting to get excited that this album will be back to form.

I've really really tried to get into Radiohead and I just don't like it.

To each their own, they certainly have gone through some phases that may not have a very broad appeal. Did you try the Bends album?

Just to clarify, assuming by 'us' you mean folks in America, 7 pm BST would be 2 pm Eastern, 11am Pacific SUNDAY. England is hours ahead of us (Americans).

I like Daydreaming, definitely trippy.

I don't blame anyone who doesn't like Radiohead. I LOVE their first 4 albums and I admire the hell out of them but am in the camp that wishes they would put some guitar in their songs and maybe a little more structure. Still though, excited for the new album.

Hail to the Thief and to a lesser extent In Rainbows are pleasantly guitar-laden

Also Jim, when you say first 4, do you count Pablo Honey? I guess I'm in the minority, but I really like that album.

Now I'm just talking to myself on this thread:

Watching Daydreaming for the first time I thought how the zooming camera work felt like Magnolia. Turns out, video directed by Paul Thomas Anderson

I actually mistyped that. I was thinking bends/ok computer/kid a However I do really like Pablo Honey and think it's very underrated. I would go

1. OK Computer
2. The Bends
3. Kid A
4. In Rainbows
5. Hail To The Theif
6. Pablo Honey
.
.
Gap
.
.
7. Amnesiac
.
.
Gap
.
.
8. King Of Limbs

That's about how my list would go, except I'd have amnesiac up there tied with kid a, since when I put one on, I find myself listening to both as a double album as originally intended.

Nowadays I'd be hard pressed to tell which songs are on which album between those two.

My older sister bought Pablo Honey when it came out, and I took it and wore it out. This was right in my early teen formative music listening years, so it's always got a top spot on my list... It just happens that every other Radiohead album since then was better (except KOL). Pablo Honey is a good album from a band that makes great albums.

As good as OK Computer was I still think Kid A is my favorite. That album was so new and different. One of the few things I can think back on that legitimately blew me away and made me think about music differently.

See I think Amnesiac totally just feels like b-sides and deleted scenes from Kid A. I don't think it's even close. Plus it has the worst song they ever did "Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors".

Anyone else hear of the theory that ok computer and in rainbows are meant to compliment each other. There's a special way to make a super playlist that flows really well.

http://diffuser.fm/radiohead-01-and-10/

Also,

My list

1. Ok Computer
2. In rainbows
3. Hail to the thief
4. Kid A
5. The bends
6. Amnesiac
7. The king of limbs
8. Pablo honey.
Jim01

Yeah the top 3 are all basically #1 to me. I got The Bends in high school but didn't fall for it. Then in College Kid A came out and the hype was unreal. I bought it day 1 because I had to hear what it was about. Like you said, it was insane. Nothing I'd ever heard before. I then went back and bought OK Computer and loved it, then rediscovered The Bends and bought Pablo Honey and was a full fan. Then I saw them on the Kid A tour at The Woodlands and it was truly a religious experience.

Going back to my earlier In Rainbows comment... Do you all consider it one disc? Because to me it's a two disc album.

I certainly agree about revolving doors, but for me, Pyramid Song, You and Whose Army?, Knives Out, Like Spinning Plates, and Life in Glass Houses are GREAT songs.
