Upon repeat listening, Decks Dark is fooking brilliant.

Decks Dark is a favorite, along with the very Nick Drake sounding Desert Island Disk, and the samba/boss nova of Present Tense. Those are my top repeat listens right now. Oh and Glass Eyes and The Numbers. Well, plus the two singles that are getting better with every listen. And of course True Love Waits.

Yeah, so, while damn thing is good. I don't LOVE Ful Stop and Identikit, but I don't skip them either.

My initial feelings on Ful Stop were this... the muted beat that starts the song makes me feel like I am walking down a long hallway at the end of which is a room where a band is rocking out. What I wanted from the song was to lead me down that hallway, open the door, and have the beat and a crackling guitar blow my face off. That is the kind of song I think of when I say I wish there were some more old guitar in Radiohead sometimes. I want that door opened to see Johnny going f'ing ape sheet on an electric guitar. So initially, I was disappointed, but I still love that beat and it has really grown on me how the song does build, just not in the way I initially hoped.

That's interesting, I've noticed there are a few moments like that where, if it were the HTTT era, the band would explode after these long build ups. Like the little groove at the end of Decks Dark. That would have been cranked to 11 back in the day. It will be interesting if those bits stay so subdued in concert.

This kind of stuff is what I was talking about that is was a 'mature' album. They make some very interesting choices in places where you might expect a younger band to do things differently.

Love this album after numerous listens. I like every song but Identikit, The Numbers, Decks Dark, Desert Island Disk and Burn The Witch are my favs at this point.

I think Present Tense has solidified itself as number one for me. Somehow, Glass Eyes snuck into a surprise second, followed by Decks and Desert Island Disk

Really enjoying this so far. Think Decks Darks is tops for me at the moment but I've only given the album one full listen so far.

Not only been listening to this album but I've been listening to the entire Radiohead catalog and falling in love with them all over again. I've listened to every album multiple time over the last couple weeks.

Right now my standings:

1. The Bends / OK Computer
3. Kid A
4. In Rainbows
5. A Moon Shaped Pool
6. Hail to the Thief
7. Pablo Honey
8. Amnesiac
9. King of Limbs

Some thoughts:

- I listened to the collector's editions of the old albums and GD I love the b-sides from the The Bends/OK Computer era!! Specifically The Bends disc. Killer Cars, The Trickster, Maquiladora, How Can You Be Sure, Lewis (Mistreated). This bands b-sides are A++.

- I owe a bit of an apology to Professor Flick. Amnesiac does stand up better than I remember along with Kid A. Honestly though it was partially Amnesiac being lifted and Kid A coming down a bit. Kid A didn't sound as amazing as I remember when it blew my mind back in the day. Still great, and maybe it's just the mood I'm in, but on re-listening The Bends and OK Computer really separated themselves from the pack to me. Those two albums and their b-sides are just perfect.

- Pablo Honey really is an outstanding early 90's rock album. Way underrated!

- Have you been following all the fan theories of the Daydreaming video?

These fools better tour the states and come to Houston!!!

Love those Bends b sides too! Don't forget India Rubber, that song is a jam, could have not only made the record, but I think could have been a single

Totally agree. I just didn't want to take the time to type out the entire track list of that disc. It's all gold!

Oh I know you know what's up.

There was this split second in history when you get (legally?) buy albums from some Russian site for like ten cents, and I got the Radiohead Lost Treasures 1993-1997 from there. All those great Bsides, plus some odd bits, like them covering Wonderwall. Not sure if it is even gettable these days, but it had a lot of great stuff.

Also glad to hear that there's at least one other person that thinks PH isn't so bad. I could imagine it might be hard to get into if one had heard the others first, but I was at the right time and age to get really into PH when it first came out, so every subsequent album was just that much better.

Ha! I had that Lost Treasures album somewhere around 2002 or so downloaded from the internet and that's where I loved the songs. I didn't know until a few years later that a lot of them were available on the b-sides of the singles, and was thrilled when the collector's editions came out.

I was a HUGE fan of hail to the thief, and In Rainbows is a masterpiece.
My In Rainbows thoughts. I really like it, but:

1. Nude - Maybe I can't help it being that it was 20 years in the coming, but the final studio version just doesn't have the same epic build up, guitar strum ending that the "Meeting People Is Easy" and live versions did. I like that ending better.

2. To me the second disc is arguably better than the first. Go Slowly, Last Flowers, Bangers & Mash, 4 Minute Warning... some great songs on there, and I find myself sometimes preferring it. So it depends, when you say "In Rainbows" do you mean the one disc or two disc version?

Oh Jim, you were so right about disc 2. Just went back and listened to it this morning. I definitely remember these songs. But just never really gave them a shot. Turns out, Last Flowers may be one of the best songs. Like, ever. Thanks!

Like a lot of their music, it took a few listens to really get into it. But I've now listening to almost nothing else for the last month. It's just brilliant.

AMSP is absolutely incredible. Took me a few listens to get into but the overall flow of the album is just perfect. Such a melancholy feel to it that isn't as explicit as previous Radiohead albums and perfect melody & instrumentation. My favorites so far are Decks Dark, The Numbers, Present Tense, and Identikit.

Who else is seeing them at ACL? I'll be front row with a few friends as we did in 2012 when they came to Houston. That concert was, literally, in the top 5 moments of my life and I don't mind waiting all day to once again secure a front row spot.

Album order and ratings for me as of now:

OK Computer (10/10)
In Rainbows (9.7/10)
Kid A (9.5/10)
Amnesiac (9.2/10)
A Moon Shaped Pool (9/10)
Hail to The Thief (8.7/10 with a few incredible standouts Wolf at the Door and There There are 2)
The Bends (8.7/10ish)
King of Limbs (8.5/10)
Pablo Honey (6/10)

It is really exciting to have a band that's been around for so long and has gone in so many directions manage to still be making some of their best music at this point.

Also, they've been putting out these little 'vignettes' every Friday, short clips of music videos that seem by all accounts to NOT be parts of longer videos. Today's was made by Richard Ayoade (sp?) dude from the IT crowd. It's pretty great/

Wow, listened to it once, and immediately loved it. Keep listening to Decks Dark, love the way it builds from the beginning.

Trying to listen to Ok Computer for the first time.

I don't know if I can deal with this. I'm not feeling it,

Its supposed to be one of the best albums of all time. I get that.

Nothing about this resonates with me though. It's all over the place.

The Bends is their best album IMO. I'm not a huge Radiohead fan though.

Bigger fan of The Bends than OK Computer. Lot's of professional musicians/famous bands have commented that OK Computer is one of their favorite albums of all time. Really surprises me. I actually listen to mostly In Rainbows and King of Limbs anymore when I'm in the mood for RH. Love the sound scapes.
