Don't know how I missed this thread, but I love Broadway! Caught almost every show in NYC when I lived there 2014-2018 and since then the majority of shows at Broadway Dallas.
Just visited NYC last week and have to shoutout Operation Mincemeat. Very funny and clever, but for those who like British humor/slapstick. We got to see 3 of the original cast, including Tony award winner Jak Malone. Phenomenal! His "Dear Bill" made me cry as it brought up a lot of feelings I had when my brother deployed. They extended the run for a 5th time, definitely go see it.
Was also lucky to catch Nicole Schlesinger in Sunset Boulevard and Audra Macdonald in Gypsy earlier this year right before the Tony's. To me, it was a tossup for either of them, but overall glad that Nicole won since Audra has already had her flowers.
Also saw Hell's Kitchen (Alicia Keys musical) that same trip which was good but not great. Music was beautiful but the book felt all over the place. We got to see Kecia Lewis before she departed, and Amanda Reid from Plano when she took on the lead (still in that role now)! She was wonderful and one to keep an eye on her career.
I need to head back because I still have My Happy Ending, Death Becomes Her, and Chess on my wishlist.
