Sounds like there is a new Phantom show in the works (Masquerade).

I saw it and it decidedly is NOT appropriate for pre-teens.

I saw Cole Escola and the original cast last fall. It is wildly stupid, hilarious, irreverent, weird. R-rated and very very queer. It was hysterical and one of the most original pieces of art I've ever seen. But it is not for everyone. I think Titus Burgess is going to be in it later this spring.

The actress who plays Tina on The Bear was sitting 2 seats from me. I follow the show on IG and tons of celebrities go see it.

I know your reply was several days ago, but perfect response about Oh Mary!. Its exactly what you described, and I laughed so hard my face hurt when I saw it. I think the only time I've come close to laughing that much from a show was seeing Nathan Lane in the lead of 'A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum' in the late 90s.

My wife's cousin is the stage manager for Oh Mary!. He came close to being the first stage manager for a Broadway show to be under 30 (missed it by a few weeks). He was very fortunate to get this ride from off Broadway as Cole insisted to the money folks he be kept on instead of bringing on a more Broadway experienced stage manager. He is such an awesome person so I get excited when I see things written here about the show.

Watched Hamilton Thur night. Third time to see it. This ensemble is joy as good as past shows but still good.

In another note, but related…

Leslie Odom Jr will come back to Hamilton on Broadway, starting September 9.

Here's my reviews:

Glengarry - the cast was fantastic. I had a little concern that some of them more used to on camera work wouldn't translate as well to the stage, but they did great. There wasn't anything particularly amazing about the production. The set and direction were fine. My wife made fun of me because I found myself saying "I don't think Mamet finished this play." I know it got the Pulitzer, but seeing it now I walked away thinking 'it's not done.'

Oh Mary! - I agree with all of the above. Absolutely hilarious. I haven't laughed that hard at a play in a while. Cole was phenomenal. It's an intelligently stupid show. There are so many elements of comedy leveraged - everything from comedia to clowning to the rule of 3 - that are at times turned on their heads. I'm sure Titus was Greta but I am so glad I got to see Cole and the original cast together.

Pirates! - this one still has a week of previews left and it showed. I think there is a fun show in it but they were all so in their heads still that it didn't feel settled at all. It's a hard show to begin with and then they layered in some amazingly complex choreography and sword fighting. You could tell everyone was thinking through it while they did it. It has potential to be pretty incredible I think but it's just not there yet. Very talented cast. Will definitely keep an eye out for reviews and see if they land it when they open.

Gypsy - Audra freaking McDonald. I've seen her before and love her, but she still blew me away this time. She left everything on that stage. The girl playing Gypsy Rose Lee was quite good as well. Her transformation was really well done. It was everything I hoped it would be.

Sondheim's Old Friends - A beautiful tribute to Sondheim and a delightful afternoon at the theatre with Bernadette and Lea Salonga. The whole cast was quite good - full of Olivier nominated performers from the UK where it started. Probably the best sounding show we saw all week from a mixing standpoint.

Hugh Jackman at Radio City - I was really underwhelmed sadly. Part of it was the sound was really not great. I've never seen anything in Radio City, but it was hard to hear and understand him where we were sitting, which were pretty good orchestra seats. It felt very hastily thrown together and disjointed. Maybe I had the wrong idea of what it would be. It was cool to see him and he tried to be charming and fun but it all seemed very vanilla or something.

Hoping to get back in July for a couple shows. My buddy just got added to Dead Outlaw cast which has a phenomenal creative team. There's a couple others I'd love to catch if they are still going.

I read the plot/synopsis of that show one time and it sounded so bad I couldn't believe it was an actual show.

My wife wants to go see HP & the Cursed Child again this fall. Apparently Tom Felton will be joining for a stent as the adult Draco Malfoy for a time.

Jinxx Monsoon is going to take over in Oh Mary! in August. I may have to make a trip to NY to catch that. She's hysterical and wildly talented. I can't imagine how unhinged her Mary will be.

Don't know how I missed this thread, but I love Broadway! Caught almost every show in NYC when I lived there 2014-2018 and since then the majority of shows at Broadway Dallas.

Just visited NYC last week and have to shoutout Operation Mincemeat. Very funny and clever, but for those who like British humor/slapstick. We got to see 3 of the original cast, including Tony award winner Jak Malone. Phenomenal! His "Dear Bill" made me cry as it brought up a lot of feelings I had when my brother deployed. They extended the run for a 5th time, definitely go see it.

Was also lucky to catch Nicole Schlesinger in Sunset Boulevard and Audra Macdonald in Gypsy earlier this year right before the Tony's. To me, it was a tossup for either of them, but overall glad that Nicole won since Audra has already had her flowers.

Also saw Hell's Kitchen (Alicia Keys musical) that same trip which was good but not great. Music was beautiful but the book felt all over the place. We got to see Kecia Lewis before she departed, and Amanda Reid from Plano when she took on the lead (still in that role now)! She was wonderful and one to keep an eye on her career.

I need to head back because I still have My Happy Ending, Death Becomes Her, and Chess on my wishlist.

I was lucky enough to see Audra in Gypsy, Operation Mincemeat, John Proctor is the Villain, and Oh, Mary! this year. All were amazing but Mincemeat blew me away- incredibly funny and clever, with one of the most devastatingly sad and beautiful songs I've ever heard. It comes out of nowhere and WRECKED me. Just a phenomenal show.

We're going in January to see Ragtime before it closes and Operation Mincemeat again.
