They didn't cover the song. Cornell just sang some of the lyrics in the middle of a SG song like he's done for years.Wheatables02 said:Quote:

Those are the opening lines to the last song Chris Cornell ever sang on stage. It was a cover of Led Zeppelin's "In My Time of Dying."
Cornell and his band Soundgarden have covered the song before and they did it again to close out the show at Detroit's Fox Theater on Wednesday. Just hours later, Cornell was found dead. He was 52.
Quote:
Dontae Freeman, a spokesman for the Detroit Police Department, said in an interview that at about midnight officers responded at the MGM Grand casino to an apparent suicide of a white man, born July 20, 1964, who was pronounced dead on the scene. He would not confirm the victim's name; Mr. Cornell's date of birth is July 20, 1964. Mr. Freeman said that the victim's wife called a family friend to check on the victim; the family friend forced his way into the room and found the individual unresponsive on the bathroom floor.
The victim was found with a band around his neck, Mr. Freeman said. He said that the police were not confirming that the victim died of a suicide, though the preliminary determination was an "apparent suicide." He said that more details would be released in a statement later Thursday.

I'm not brushed up on my 90s grunge as some of you may be but wasn't Cornell and Temple of the Dog the ones behind the Seattle grunge movement?
I thought they were the ones that kinda opened the doors for that whole scene and got Seattle the mainstream recognition as sort of the hotbed for grunge.
And didn't 10 come up a couple of weeks before Nevermind? It's been a while, but I seem to remember a buddy of mine introducing me to Even Flow before I heard anything from Nevermind.superunknown said:
Nevermind was only out for a couple of weeks before Badmotorfinger
Same would say the same about AIC and Facelifttysker said:
Soundgarden was the band that made it ok for the metalheads to like grunge/rock music and vice versa. You could almost put Outshined, Slaves & Bulldozers, Mailman, and Fourth of July on any sludge-metal album and they'd fit right in.

Temple was a collaboration with Pearl Jam to honor Mother Love Bone, another band from that time whos lead singer died.
Well, that's certainly one way to say it!98Ag99Grad said:

I wouldnt disagree because all of the grunge-era bands crossed genres so very well and weren't afraid to wear their influences on their sleeves. Not to oversimplify it but the guitar-solo metal kids had AIC. The doom/sludge metal kids had Soundgarden. The punk/noise rock fans had Nirvana and the classic rock kids had PJ. Grunge music allowed us fans to also be unabashed fans of Led Zeppelin, the Melvins, Megadeth, Sonic Youth, Iggy Pop, Black Sabbath, and the Pixies, all at the same time.spanky said:Same would say the same about AIC and Facelifttysker said:
