Lot of people giving this movie flack already, calling it a conservative porn film for the anti Muslim and anti Mexican theme. Glad to know movie critics aren't partisan
New Mexico and Albq. in general have phenomenal tax benefits for film folks. It is a big industry for them when films want to shoot in the desert.Wycliffe_03 said:Brian Earl Spilner said:
I absolutely noticed this as soon as they showed the first shot of McAllen. They filmed in NM, so makes sense.
I think they did the same with a lot of HOHW. Wonder if they get tax breaks or other incentives for filming in NM vs TX?

Enjoyed it right up until the ending. But makes me want to see another.
I do miss Emily blunt type character tho.
they were taking her to a Mexican federal facility in Matamoros territory to force reyes' men to have to fight their way out once they got her.CT75 said:
I'll give the move 7/10. Like many, I thought the plot had holes.
Trying to remember who/where they were attempting to deliver the daughter to when the convey was shot-up by the "escorts". Where they taking her to a prearranged third party safe house in Mexico?

Saw it today. I enjoyed the original and I enjoyed this one. I'd have to go back and re-watch the original to be able to say which I enjoyed more, but I will say that I was very much impressed with Brolin-Del Toro part 2 for this year.
It took me a couple of minutes to process the ending. I think I'm correct in my assessment that a good bit of time has elapsed between the time when we see Del Toro with that big, nasty hole in his face to the time when he meets the kid in the mall fast food place with the line, "So you want to be a Sicario?" given that he was completely healed.
I loved Brolin's line early in the movie to the captured pirate, "Eventually I'll find a brother you can't live without".
Brolin has had a pretty good run lately, with the movie about the firefighters last year, Thanos, and now this bad-ass mofo.
Also, some of the violence stereotypes are indeed true, regardless of who is protesting right now. So who gives a **** who is protesting what. This is a fictional movie for Christ's sake. Not everything has to be a social statement.Pahdz said:

That said, there's still one thing that's bugging the crap out of me. After two viewings, I still CANNOT figure out why Benicio activates the tracking beacon at the border. What does this accomplish? Why would he not want to try and get across completely undetected?
