Minor gripe: how did the kids survive the waterfall? I doubt they learned how to swim or even keep afloat in the house they grew up in.
They were witches.

Her naming them "Boy" and "Girl" is an excusable narrative point to me. They spent the opening of the movie explaining how she was naturally disconnected and didn't expect any sort of increased shared intimacy just because she's going to become a mother.
What is inexcusable however is the fact that the girl's mom wanted to name her daughter Ariel or Jasmine. And what does Sandra Bullock name her? ****ing Olympia. SMH.

Not bad. Was hoping there'd be an explanation as to why it affected some people differently.
If Bird Box and A Quiet Place happened at the same time, people would be good and ****ed, eh?
Get by on smell?

I wonder how many people were like me and thought they were watching the trailer for it and decided to stay after it finally clicked that it was autoplaying the movie

Interesting that everyone assumes some people can see without killing themselves. I thought those people were actually taken over and controlled by the creatures.
A dog's brain isn't complex enough to understand seeing some kind of demon and wanting to kill itself. I think this was more of a evil is taking over and cleansing the world of good type of thing. This is why I brought up really little kids that don't understand evil and death. What did they do? It was a plot hole that was never really explained.ramblin_ag02 said:
Did all the dogs and cats kill themselves, too? Seems kinda weird to go the entire movie based on lack of vision and not have a single dog involved.
That would've been really interesting.eeemmm said:
Spoiler alert for those who don't want to see it...
But I read the book - in the book they go to the same facility, but are required to blind themselves. It's been a while since I read it so I can't remember what all was different from the movie, but that was a pretty big difference.

Watched A Quiet Place for the first time last week and Bird Box this week and there's no competition, A Quiet Place blew it out of the water.
Thought the intro to Bird Box was interesting, then it got a bit confusing in the house (it was never really made clear who knew each other already or not) then dropped off from there.
I really didn't care whether the lead characters made it or not, which for me is the key thing in any horror survival film. You've got to be invested in the characters and I just wasn't.

You also have people like Rosa Salazar (the cop trainee) and MGK that just cut and run with no explanation
I read the book awhile back and watched the movie last night.Bruce Almighty said:
Did anyone read the book? How would really young kids react to seeing the creatures? Would a one year old that doesn't understand death or even fear try to kill themselves?
