I haven't seen an F&F movie since #2. But I'm in on this movie. It looks like great brainless popcorn summer fun.

Please post your thoughts after. I'd like to get someone else's opinion. I thought it was just way too much, but it has like a 79 on metacritic and 71 on open critic. Ratings that the movie, in my opinion, doesn't come close to.policywonk98 said:

I'm not dense but I didn't know that was kept underwraps. Obviously if I knew that I wouldn't have posted it. Just got out. It's exactly what a Hobbs and shaw movie shod have been. Nothing deep, lots of action, hot backdrops and hotter cars.
Some great cameos as well.

Fun movie. Nothing more, nothing less.
Fun as hell like all the F&F movies. Cameos were great, and the chemistry between Rock and Statham (and Kirby) was fantastic.
The final scene is beyond ridiculous but a wildly entertaining summer movie.

Here's a serious question? Why didn't they keep anyone from the F&F franchise? Why even keep the name?

Cuz it's a spinoff featuring the two guys who are bigger action stars than the other people. And the franchise has name recognition. I guess a cameo from Luda would've been a nice touch, but they will probably do something like that in the next one.
Plus they are clearly building this into its own franchise, and something tells me Vin Diesel ain't happy about this. I know Tyrese voiced his disproval about it, but who gives a **** about what he thinks.

F&F was always crazy and pushed the boundries, but this was just absolutely too much for me. Pretty much has made me not a fan of the series anymore if they keep this up.
Honestly, I cant believe its doing as well as it is. Its hot garbage and people love it.
The wife and I went to see it Saturday and even though she'd only seen the FF movies with the Rock and Statham, she still enjoyed it.
I, on the other hand, couldn't stop laughing all the way through. Action was awesome, the Rock and Statham's back and forth was on another level, and no one took themselves too seriously in a movie that wasn't meant to be serious.
If you went and spent your money on a movie with the Rock and Jason Statham, and expected to be blown away by some deep and meaningful filmmaking, you're a moron.

I honestly started losing interest after Fast Five, but yeah you bring up a good point. I think I felt less attachment to this movie because of the lack of original F&F cast. Plus I may or may not be feeling burnt out from the oversaturation of Dwayne Johnson.

I don't think i've ever seen a franchise that was so tied to a group of 4 or 5 characters for for 8 movies and then the 9th one just deleted them all.
And before you say Star Wars I think they are slowly just dying so it has to be done (though not a crappily as TLJ).
This technically wasn't the "9th" movie. It was a spin-off. Fast & Furious 9 comes out next year, followed by F&F 10 in 2021, with all the familiar players coming back for both.

Any idea if the beef between Vin and The Rock is real? I assume at least somewhat, as Vin Diesel seems super protective of the franchise.
I've heard it's genuine. That, and apparently The Rock isn't in either of the next two Fast & Furious movies.
