Honestly surprised so many loved without remorse. To me it is one of his weakest books. I'm not sure when he wrote it in relation to all the others but it felt pretty sophomoric to me in tone and premise. At least compared to his other work.

That would be a badass follow up. I'm making my way through all the Ryanverse for the first time, and The Campus would be really good too. You have to establish JR Sr.'s entire story though for it to make a whole lot of sense.

Theres enough Clancy work to use without dipping into the trash that is the work after his death.
I'm pretty sure they could make movies one for one with the Clancy books, especially later novels with Jack Jr. and they would make money. I know I would watch every single one of them. But keep in mind I've read all of the books and I probably watched every episode of the Unit - not exactly discerning.

Hot take alert. The work after his death may not be as technical as when Clancy was writing, but they are still good books with solid characters.

I completely missed that this movie was actually happening but today's "Peter Henderson" revelation had me pull up the WR Wikipedia page where I saw the Michael b Jordan project is filming (or is maybe complete?).

Yeah, they've updated it to modern times and subbed in some shadowy international group in place of the local gang as his main enemy.

I am a little confused about the last part of the trailer with (very minor trailer spoilers) jumping into the car he just lit on fire. I guess it looks cool, but why would anyone do that?

The parallel of him in the book between Vietnam and the streets was great. Very methodical/stealthy in both. This trailer makes it look like he's just Rambo gunning people down. I'll still watch it but my expectations are lowered.

Because that's a novel and not a screenplay. Also the timeline has to shift to fit the more modern Jack Ryan-verse Amazon is laying out.
This book has never been adaptable to screen. Many dorks are gonna be upset that it doesn't adequately portray their rape revenge fantasies.

Yeeesh man, no need to go there, like the different pace and suspense to the book, glad they made your Michael B Jordan standard shoot em up tho, also don't read what happens to your environmentalist buddies at the end of Rainbow Six book, will make you write to Biden and Nacy to cancel Clancy books like Dr Suess
Saw the trailer. Basically the only thing it has in common with the book is a few names. Hard pass for me.
With how much this board loves Taylor Sheridan (as do I), I'm legit surprised by how many "meh"/"hard pass"-like posts I'm seeing. I thought there would be WAY more excitement for this, for that fact alone. Sheridan teaming with Michael B. Jordan to tell a revenge story set in the world of Tom Clancy sounds like a TexAgs wet dream. Instead, people are b/tching that this isn't faithful to what sounds like some pretty dated source material? Huh? This looks awesome. Sign me the hell up.

It will probably be good and entertaining, but I'd say the disappointment/complaining is in the fact that this looks more like a generic action movie with some characters that have the same name as some Tom Clancy characters, opposed to a true Without Remorse movie.
I hope I'm wrong but this seems more like another Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit as opposed to Hunt for Red October
I hear you. I just figured the Sheridan factor would make up for that. Because he doesn't really make bad movies. In fact, he seems to be TexAgs' favorite filmmaker.
