How many of you guys would have gone to Bonnie's funeral? I might have just out of curiosity.

We just finished it and really liked it. I never really got into the Bonnie and Clyde story. Was great to learn more about it from the Rangers' perspective.

As a kid who spent time in the summer in the piney woods of east Texas hearing stories from my grandparents about how Bonnie & Clyde stayed a night in that small east Texas town, it was a childhood imagination come true. Great film.

The audience score is up to 76%. Not sure why critics liked it less.

Some say just typical buddy cop movie and cliches which is absurd. Others call it boring. It's no modern action movie that's for sure. Others seem to have more issue with the morals of their actions and whether they should be held accountable. Seems like more issues of imparting today's moral standards on a different age (similar to the SJW attacks on confederate heroes and other historical events). Pathetic.

The people who have issues with the moral standards obviously didn't watch the movie.

One of the major issues in the movie was how Hamer and Gault struggled with the idea that they were sent to murder this couple, especially a woman, and how that same behavior still haunted them from when they were young.

On the other hand, the public and the media had gotten the Ranger program shut down because of their tactics, yet were honoring them as heroes for doing the same kind of work once there was no other option. And the only people who saw the hypocrisy were the two main characters.

I enjoyed it plenty for the medium it was released on. I don't think it was some especially good movie but good enough for a weekend watch on Netflix.

I really enjoyed this film. Between this one and true detective season one, i have grown to really enjoy Woody Harelson.

I haven't seen all of his movies, but I can't think of a recent role of his I haven't enjoyed. He was perfect as Haymitch in Hunger Games and was an incredibly likable kook in Zombieland.

I thought Ma Ferguson shut them down because they supported Sterling during his re-election campaign. Hell they were reorganized basically the moment she left office.

One other thing I liked about this movie is it was not a Bonnie and Clyde movie. It rarely followed them and you didn't even see them that much except a few witnessed killings from afar. Or brief glimpses in their car.

That helped kinda build the intrigue and mystery about them I suppose. But really it played into the Rangers perspective of them being so elusive and always being a few steps behind.

I also liked this aspect of the movie. It wasn't until the climatic end that you really saw their faces. Makes a lot of sense for the time period. They needed to bring along a childhood friend just to make positive ID.

Maybe they'll do a movie from the opposite perspective. That would be interesting.

Did anyone else love the gun store scene...I mean, holy cow, who hasn't wanted to shoot, let alone own all those guns...BAR, Tommy Gun (Thomson Sub-Machine Gun) and all that ammo...OOF!

Oh is that right? I just was basing it off what was said in the movie. She said she was tired of answering for their blood. I didn't realize there were extra political reasonings.

Yeah. I really wanted to know how much that all cost in 1934 though. Like $100?

The other great thing was how the clerk basically said "can I ask" what Hamer wanted all that firepower for. He said " you can ask" and then looked at him like - none of your GD business. Far cry from any gun purchase today. Lol.

I may very well have missed it, but did he just order 100 rds for the Tommy Gun? If so, that would be pretty funny, but I'm sure I misheard.

I really liked this as well. When we have so many movies that glorify the Bonnie & Clyde type characters, I loved that they never showed their faces which de-humanized them to an extent.

Great movie!!! Love the perspective of not showing any dialogue from B&C or even their faces until the end was a great touch! It certainly added to the mystique!! However, for students of the B&C story, there were still way to much historical inaccuracies and historical liberties!!

He said 100 rounds for the rest of them. Thompsons chambered .45 and he ordered 4 cases of that and 4 cases of 30.06 for the BAR to start. I figured the 100 rounds for the rest was for the shotgun and .30-.30

I liked the movie, but the dialog seemed overdone and off the mark . I think they tried too hard to work in lots of cowboy talk. Sometimes less is more.

Great movie. Enjoyed it tremendously. Like someone said, Woody Harrelson was great. I feel like he is under appreciated, hell I forget about him most of the time, but when I see him in something he's great. As far as the gun store he probably only dropped $500 for everything. Jealous.

Woody is NOT under appreciated. Maybe for your age... I'm class of 95. I still love his ballad to Kelly while a bar back at Cheers. He's the most surprising, successful entertainer in my lifetime. I laughed at white men can't jump, now woody is laughing at all of us.

"K-E-L-L-Y... Why? Because you're Kelly, Kelly, Kelly..."

Woody's a national treasure. From WMCJ to Kingpin to The Thin Red Line to True Detective to Three Billboards, dude can do it all. Regarding The Highwaymen, he nailed his role (as did Costner). Really enjoyed this flick.

Woody is awesome. Every time he is on the screen, my wife can't help but remind me about how he creeped on her once in Austin Bergstrom airport about a decade ago. Always made me like him more for some reason lol.

That's a really interesting idea and one I'm not sure has been done. Basically, film the same movie twice, but from 2 different perspectives. With the right story, that could be a very cool project.

Oddly enough, the closest thing to this that I can think of ties into another thread on this board, Motley Crue's The Dirt.

I posted this on a different forum about the movie. I thought it was excellent and well done by John Lee Hancock. However, although its plugged as the TRUE STORY of the hunt for Bonnie and Clyde, there were some glaring historical errors:

Ok.........some spoiler alerts here, but here are some ways the movie was somewhat not "factual":

1.) There was NO car chase between the Rangers and Bonnie and Clyde......they never laid eyes on them until the ambush!

2.) Hamer and Gault NEVER entered the home of Ivy Methvin to look for B & C.....although I really liked how it looked in the movie, as we see the Camel cigarettes she has smoked and their clothes in the closet (and just how small they really are!)

3.) At the ambush, NO ONE and especially Frank Hamer stepped out before shots were fired and said, "stick 'em up".......Louisiana deputy Prentiss Oakley fired first, and that shot killed Clyde instantly. Bonnie screamed: Then they opened up on the car. Clyde's foot did slip off the brake and the car rolled about 40 yards, and they all stepped out and blasted it!

NOW, the end scene of the mob trying to get souveniers out of the death car was very realistic. As a matter of fact, it was worse than what they showed. (I wish they would have showed the scene in Gibsland, as the death car comes into town, kids rushed it from the local school, and got up on the running boards to look in the car....it would have been a nice touch in the movie.
In all, it was an excellent movie......very well made!
