People are fans of not just the music, but of (who they perceive to be) the artist. Hell, a lot of artists would sell a lot less music to the masses if it was widely known that a large % didn't actually write the song they were singing.

Actually MuckRaker dropped the mic. Cactus Jack simply spiked the watermelon sized ball that was set up for him.

I had that album (well, cassette). I need to look through all of my old tapes and see if I still have it or it got lost/destroyed/thrown away over the years.

The funniest part about the 'outrage' (I don't remember much outrage BTW, just a lot of "holy **** that's pretty funny") was that these two guys couldn't speak a word of English without a HEAVY accent, yet "their" singing voices were very clearly those of a native, black American speaker.

Most country and pop artists don't even write their songs, they just sing them, because they are the 'star', and have 'it', whether it be looks, charisma or stage presence or what have you.

Take it one tiny step further and you have milli vanilli. They are the stars meant for the stage. They just can't sing. They dance and do all the other **** people want to see, so someone else not only wrote the songs, but sang the songs too.

Neither can most pop stars. You have your exceptions like MJ or Bruno, but all the boy band crap? That dancing is weak and very dated, as was MV.
