I didn't realize this was being made into a film. I read this as a teenager and all I can remember is that one kid screaming "it shouldn't count if you get a charley-horse!"

I started watching because I thought it was a historical thing and I didn't know what it was... but why I didn't stop watching when I saw Stephen King...I don't know. Never got into his stuff or horror at all when I was a kid. Don't love it.

I believe this was his first novel under under the pseudonym Richard Bachman.

Ditto read this in 1985 when it became known as a king book. He had written it under the pseudonym Bachman.

Always wondered if it would get made into a movie.

The running man was another. More gritty and real world dystopian than the movie version.

This looks to match the tone of the book.

No the first was Rage. HS shooter story that I doubt ever gets made into a movie.


This was the second.

Curious if the new version of Running Man will be closer to the book in tone (haven't read it).

Not sure if this is the right thread, but JT wrote and directed Strange Darling last year. If you have not watched it, I would 100% recommend it. Strange Darling is the closet thing to Tarantino that I've seen. Non linear timeline, action, violence, and filming, colors, score long take shots and blocking. Lacks the dialogue, and no more thrilling or gory than anHBO drama. And the whole movie is not what you would except. I realize the subject matter might not be for everyone, but the way it is shot and laid out, it's not your typical cat and mouse thriller. A bit of twist.
All that to say, I'm very interested in whatever JT is up to after Strange Darling.

This looks like a really fun Tarantino/Coen Bros kind of ride.

Granted, it all depends on the script, but this has a chance to be a pretty big comedy next year. At the absolute peak of his popularity, Nate Bargatze is starring in his very first movie, in which Mandy Moore has already been cast as his wife, and now they're adding these great names as well, Making for something that could really be a lot fun, and genuinely hilarious, but also family friendly. We absolutely need more of these types of movies back in theaters, and hopefully this kickstarts a trend...

He's not quitting standup. The script is already written, they're about to start shooting, and they'll be done before the end of the summer. Sure, if successful he'll make more movies, but I seriously doubt he stops touring in between.
