Is it that movies that go to theater do better streaming or is that movies that are good enough to go to theater, do, and they do better streaming because they are good?

The movie content that Netflix puts out is generally pretty lackluster imo.

I'm sure that's part of it. But there are still plenty pretty sh*tty theatrically released movies that do better on streaming in general than the other, non-theatrically released sh*tty movies.

I'm still holding out for Dune 1 rerelease in IMAX, but doesn't look like I'm going to get that. Missed it in IMAX the first time around and would love to see it with Dune 2 back to back.

This happened last night, on IMAX screens across the country, for one night only, with a ten-minute preview for Part Two after. Most screenings sold out within a day or so, though. "Reboot" in the sense that it'll be an all new story/cast, NOT that they're remaking the first movie or anything along those lines. The first six movies will still be canon...

The sequel is definitely worth watching. I rewatched both last year on Paramount Plus and the original is the best, the second is still very entertaining. You get to see more than just where the family lives as they have to hit the road. The kids are more prominent characters as well, the daughter has the biggest role in the second film. In addition to Djimon Hounsou (who's in the Day One trailer) Cillian Murphy is in it, Scoot McNairy has a scene as well.

Will echo others in that it's absolutely worth watching. Right there on par with the first one, IMO, maybe just a tiny peg below.

And for what it's worth, it's sounding more and more like this new is pretty great too, with Lupita Nyong'o apparently delivering a fantastic performance.

For a while now, there's been both a live-action adaptation of the first Moana movie set for June 27, 2025 (starring The Rock), and then a Disney+ animated sequel series loosely set for this year. The news that broke today is that the sequel series has instead become an animated theatrical movie, releasing November 27, the same day as the live-action adaptation of Wicked. In other words, with the Gladiator sequel hitting theaters just five days prior, this now looks to be a massive Thanksgiving at the box office.

What's the alternative?

This thread has been on the front page for, like, 90% of those four years. Every so often it drops to the second page for a day or so, but then it's right back to the top of the board. I don't understand how anyone could miss it?

Either way, I assumed most everyone knew this is where to find all the new trailers/release info, especially since the thread follow feature was added years ago.

If I start a new one each year, and it has, say, "2024" in the title, people will think it's only for 2024 releases. When it's meant to be for ALL future releases, since all kinds of stuff is constantly being announced for 2025 and even 2026 as well. And if leave the year out of the title, but keep the same title while starting a new thread each year, what's the difference? In fact, if it's a new thread each year called "MOVIE TRAILERS AND RELEASE DATES," year after year, that would be even more confusing to me.

I just figured most everyone who's ever been interested in this thread uses the watch/follow feature, and gets a little blue notification every time it's updated. If not, again, it's never not on the front page, so it's never crossed my mind that people could miss or confuse it.
