This is such a weird trailer. The whole point is that a single mom (Hathaway) goes to Coachella with her daughter, where the mom and a young rock star "meet cute" and eventually fall in love. Yet the daughter is basically non-existent in the trailer for some reason, so the whole "What are people going to think?" angle seems kind of insane without that context. Also, how do you not have a single bit with the daughter saying something to the effect of "I can't believe my mom is dating [Rock Star X]!" Like, the daughter's perspective is crucial in all this, and a huge part of the sell, potential friction, etc. Never mind the fact that Hathaway looks incredible at 40.

Not that any of it really matters - I won't be seeing this regardless - I just find it all so odd...

For anyone not familiar with the premise, this is based on a trilogy of outstanding kids' novels. I just finished the last one with my son and it's extremely well written. This looks like a great adaptation just based off the trailer.

The tagline from this movie reminds me of the time on the Simpsons when they want a new character for Itchy and Scratchy and the studio head takes 0.3 seconds to come up with "Poochie".

Other than it being a book, this movie looks like "Anne Hathaway wants to still feel hot at age 40, so let's have her bang some guy who would have probably been in Driveshaft if they remade Lost today."
