GnR's third album should have been a single album with these tracks:
Live and let die
Don't cry
You aint the first
November rain
The garden
Garden of eden
Dead horse
Civil War
Yesterdays
Knocking on Heaven's Door
Get in the ring
Breakdown
Estranged
You could be Mine

That's just over 75 minutes. All the rest was mostly crap.

The first things that popped into my head:

3) Gin Blossoms - New Miserable Experience followed by Congratulations I'm Sorry.

This is random.

Congrats.. had 4 pretty damn good songs, and those are the only ones I've heard off the album. (track 3,4,5,14)

The rest can't be that bad.
I remember the days of knowing songs by their track number. That's how we communicated about music in high school.

There's a dj on xm turbo and he always throws out track numbers for the songs off 90s albums. I usually know them too

I think zooropa holds up pretty well. I'm not much of a u2 fan though but like a few of their albums. Zooropa is one of those.

Actung and Zooropa are a great one-two punch. I thought Pop was the real letdown.

St A is hard to listen to, so much that I don't even know if the songs are good because I can't hardly listen to them.

Alright.. well it turns out, these songs aren't that bad. The production completely ruined a decent album.

Yeah, there are some straight killer riffs on St.Anger- the problem is they're all over the place in terms of song structure, and there are no solos to highlight those awesome riffs. I really think that if Lars had not gotten so enamored with trying to sound like Korn and System of a Down, Kirk would have shredded on this record, and it would have been seen as a flawed, but solid return to form. As it is, St.Anger is a disorganized, funky mess, that I strangely always seem to stop and listen to when a song from it comes up on my playlist. it really is a fascinating record.

I guess we like different stuff. I couldn't stand track 3 (Follow You Down), and track 14 is Barking Dog. It is literally 40 seconds of a guitar, drum, and a dog barking, correct?

I thought it was until I hear it from you. But that looks like that was a bonus on later releases, not the initial release.

I think not only numb and as long as it matters are better than anything off NME.

The new Tool album.
No way it can live up to fan expectations after such a long wait.
I hope you're wrong.

Hah I don't know if any tool fans have simply grown to not like them after all this time, which is 13 years btw.

Lateralus and 10kD were pretty similar overall. Some chill, some heavy, all progressive and drum/bass heavy. If they stay on the vein it will do well. I don't see them 'changing' any.

St. Anger

(It grew on me later and I enjoy it now...but popping it in the CD player and listening for the first time....yeah...big letdown)

When I read the thread title this first came to mind.

Metallica has put out some awesome albums in its day... this one... sucked.

It's like following Make Yourself or Morning View with a crow left of the murderer

For me it was every album by queensryche after Empire.

Mindcrime was just a masterpiece, but while Empire seemed to be "selling out for MTV" I still enjoyed almost every song on that album.

But then the wheels came off

The King of Limbs by Radiohead

Having one of the most musically gifted ensembles out there and producing an album full of almost unlistenable, cheap drumtrack, boring bull***** I love most of what they've produced but man that album sucks.

Came here to post this. Probably my favorite band, and I've tried too many times to get into it. There some decent songs toward the latter half, but otherwise agree, most is just unlistenable.

Speaking of Radiohead, Kid A was very disappointing. I know that it was critically acclaimed and Radiohead nerds love it, but for mild fans like me, the album was so different than the guitar heavy sound of their first three, that I just didn't care for it. I really haven't been a fan of their work since.

1. Kings of Leon - OBTN. They lost there edge on that album.
2. All Chili peppers after Stadium Arcadium.
3. Jack White's newest album.
4. All Strokes albums after Room on Fire

My thoughts as well. Promised Land had a few good tracks, but its a very disjointed album. I think I read at the time they wrote their parts separately and sent them to each other. DeGarmo was on his way out. they were never the same once Chris left.

Having said that some of their new stuff w/Michael De la Torre is pretty badass.

As someone who grew up in 70/80's, the first two Boston albums were huge. Always got airplay on the rock stations.

For years and years, rumors persisted that a third album was in the works.

Eight years later we got Third Stage.

Nine Inch Nails - Year Zero

Year Zero had a couple of good tracks and overall The Slip is a bigger disappointment but they have been my favorite all time band and Year Zero was the first album of theirs that was bad. It's been mostly downhill since then. I actually liked Hesitation Marks and thought he had turned a corner but but Add Violence, Not The Actual Events and Bad Witch have been truly terrible. It's to the point now that I didn't even go to the concert last time they were in town because the setlist was so much of the new material.
