For me, SRV Live at El Mocambo

He...and this concert...are the reason I've yearned to pick up a guitar for nearly 30 years

And the same reason I don't bother...

I just pick up the remote...

I would assume you didn't attend El Mocambo in '83. I agree the video is top 5 live concert vids.

Paul McCartney at Minute Maid Park in 2011. My brother figured they'd have the roof closed because it was 45 degrees outside, and didn't bring a jacket. They had the roof open to shoot off the fireworks on "Live and Let Die." I sat comfortably in my jacket and gloves for 2 hours as my brother slowly froze to death before going to spend $80 on an Astros jacket with their previous logo on it.

That was a great concert but pretty sure it was in 2012.

I am pretty sure that Ms Klien's 3rd grade music class recital was the most highly acclaimed performance I have been a part of. I still hear the applause and cheers 40 years later and I close my eyes at night
I absolutely crushed the solo with my recorder.

I just read up on the Monterrey Pop and wiki said it was the American debut for Jimi, The Who, Janis Joplin and Otis Redding to the mainstream.

Wow. Was probably a pretty good time

May sound a little out of place with the "greats" here, but Papa Roach 2006 in Odessa.

Why? Because it got rained out and we all had to move to the barn/dance hall thingie. Got like 200 people crammed into this tiny building with Papa Roach on a tiny stage with no barriers from the crowd. Basically a garage band set up.

They killed it. So much energy in that little place. Instead of blowing it off, they played like it was a packed stadium. Jacoby was swinging from the rafters that he could just reach up and grab while singing. Awesome dudes.

Crazy night.

I'd beg to differ..

Papa Roach played in Houston, oh back in 2010 or so at a buzzfest I think it was.. My band (a cover band) played at this bar in the Klein area of Houston pretty regularly. Well this place so happen to book papa roach for an 'after party' after their show at the woodlands pavilion. They also so happen to book us to be the band playing that night.

So the night is moving along, the guys from papa roach end up being in a a closed off area while they let people in and out for meet/greet or just hanging out.

Jacoby broke out and went to the restroom, which required him to go right by us (the band playing). It wasn't some big stage or anything, just him walking 3' in front of us, passing by to go to restroom. He didn't stop and acknowledge us as a band or anything, just laser focused to the toilet.. which I can understand.

While he was in there, I thought, hell let's start playing last resort, surely he'll come out and sing! This restroom is right behind where we're playing, and you can hear the music.

So we start playing the opening riff, about 15 seconds into the song (I hadn't even got to the first verse yet), he exits restroom, and again walks by us, not 3' away, and didn't even give a glance, a fist bump, not even a pause to see if we're going to play this song... let alone him stopping to sing. He literally walked right by me, 3' away from right to left, while I was playing the riff to his song, and he never looked away from in front of him.

Pretty much gave me my opinion of him.

We continued into the song for a verse and chorus and then just stopped. People in the crowd witnessed him walking by and probably thought the same thing I did, and after we stopped I just said on the mic, 'oh well, f8ck him.'

I did see Slayer on the South of Heaven tour at the Austin colleseum. Arguably the best concert I have seen.
Similar but different was SRV on the Couldn't Stand the Weather tour at Palmer auditorium.
They were just "on" those shows.

R40 in Houston. It was a great concert, as always you got extra Rush because they haven't used a warm up band in years so you get 2.5 hours, I got to hear Red Barchetta and watch them play Xanadu with the double necks, but it was really sad when it was over because I knew that was the last show I would ever see.

They've never been on my radar. I only know that riff because it's a hallowed be thy name rip off.

Just thought I'd try and get a rise out of him, but he clearly did not come off as an 'awesome' dude.

Personally it's not close. Wifey and I went bar hopping, saw the sunrise in a piano bar, and the next night were on stage with bad company and the little river band in st maartin in the New Year's Eve concert.
