Best large venue was the Foo Fighters.

Best small one was taking my daughter to see COIN. They were certainly good, but being in a small venue with a few hundred rabid fans made it a great experience.

Pearl Jam/Soundgarden/Monster Magnet/Some other band. /92 Unicorn Ballroom in Houston

Got there early because we didn't know where it was and we were going to have dinner after we found the place. Instead, we saw PJ's bus in the back and just walked back there. Hung out with the band for about an hour. MTV news showed up to do a segment. Talked to Soundgarden guys for just a bit.

Unicorn was just a grocery store that they hollowed out and put a stage at one end. During the Pearl Jam set, I could literally touch Mike McCready's guitar. Ended up with a custom pick that Jeff Ament threw my way. Ended with Temple of the Dog.

Already in love with both bands, but most hand't heard of them yet. Was even a fan of Monster Magnet.

20 years later I'm walking through the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland - the poster for that night's concert was in the grunge area.

1) Adam and the ants. O'Connell center, Gainesville,FL. 1982. Most elaborate concert performance I've ever seen.

2) Bonnie Raitt. New Orleans. 1988. Small crowd, private event on New Year's Eve... my friends and I happen to end up on a balcony of some bar that looked down into the courtyard where she was playing. I had never heard of her before.

3) Robert Earl Keen Jr. " Bigger Peace of Sky" album release party1993. First time REKJ played the main stage at Gruene hall....as opposed to the front room.

1987 fraternity rush party, my buddy pulled off getting The Judy's for $2,500. The line was long and only good looking coeds allowed in. Game over for anyone who remembers the greatness of The Judy's.

Interestingly, as small as you perceived them to still be, that was their fourth time through Houston already, playing three times there in 1991. Then a few just a few months later, both SG and PJ were in Houston again for Lolla.

Foo Fighters although large venues aren't my thing. Black Keys and Arcade Fire on the same bill at Stubbs in 2005. Bob Schneider never disappoints.

AC/DC live in San Antonio was unreal.

Garth Brooks at Reed Arena was crazy as was Shania Twain (I don't particularly like either one of them but the concerts were awesome.

Roger Creager at Corona Club in Acuna was one of the best small venue shows.

Recently saw the Eagles with Glenn's son Deacon and Vince Gille handling vocals, Zach Brown opened and the pre-opening was handled by the Doobie Bros. We had field level seats at Giants Stadium in San Francisco. That was probably the absolute coolest concert I've been to. Lasted 7 hours start to finish.

Hate to be "that guy", but REK was main stage at Gruene starting in at least '89. Maybe a little earlier.
