yes. as were Jimmy Buffet and David Crosby

plus George Lucas and Carrie Fisher had a brief cameo/
I always thought that was David Crosby! Didn't know he was officially in it though.

Classic from my childhood!

This movie is polarizing. Some love it, some hate it.
I hate it.

Loved it. Except for when I was a kid and the "Boo box" scene. That creeped me the **** out. The rest of the movie was fine.

Which come to think of it, I think Glenn Close was the one who got put into the Boo Box.

Would have enjoyed the movie a lot more had they opted to not have the Tinkerbell is in love with Peter aspect.

Side note: apparently Julia Roberts was hell to work with on set. So much so she was dubbed "Tinker Hell" and supposedly Spielberg vowed to never work with her again

Loved John Williams' score.

Have forgotten the movie as it was not memorable at all to me. Basically a forgotten movie in Spielberg's career.

I think I knew that was Close when I saw it the first time back in 1991.

But 28 years later, a movie that I have seen many times since 1991, and I'm just now learning that Lucas and Fisher had cameos. Wow. Might just have to watch again to see if I can spot them. Are they on Hook's ship or in the town?

Tinker Bell is always in love with Peter. Her jealousy over Peter's affection is a defining trait.

In 2014, the actor who played Rufio wrote this beautiful tribute to Robin Williams. Next month will be incredibly already be 5 years since RW past away.

I was lucky to work with him as an actor and witness first hand the magic of what made him a legend, the wit and other worldly improv skills. As well as see him single handedly put the morale of a movie set, easily hundreds of people, on his shoulders and kept everyone laughing as they worked long hours for what seemed like months on end. And at the same time, I was fortunate to spend private times, many mornings in the makeup chair, (which with my tri-hawk hair took hours), just talking about poetry And soft spoken and introspectively we would discuss Walt Whitman and Charles Bukowski.
With "Hook" and so many other films, I, like millions of others became a fan and was always delightfully surprised by the performances he managed to produce, but with his passing, I can't help to feel, along with my generation I can't help feeling like it's the death of my childhood. I guess we can't stay in Neverland forever, we must all grown up.
But I just want to bid a sorrowful farewell to one of the greatest I've been able to work with and be around and I'll always remember my time with you as some of the greatest moments in my life and just like the rest of the world, I'll remember you with joy and laughter.

I imagine anyone who is between the ages of 25-40 loves this movie, and its a toss up outside of that age range.

Nope. I might be an outlier (I'm 36) but I've always hated this movie. As a girl in the 80s/90s, nothing about Hook interested me. Same goes for many of the movies mentioned in the Best of the 80s thread. For me, alll the female characters are awful and I don't relate to the wistfulness of the Lost Boys. That doesn't make it a bad movie, just not for everyone.

Terrible, terrible movie. It had a great musical score, but otherwise it was awful.

I will defend Julia Roberts on one point, though. She had just gone through a bad breakup. You'll notice that she looks like crap in every scene, and she barely seems aware of the other people on screen with her. Spielberg should have replaced her. No chain is stronger than its weakest link, and her performance (or lack thereof) proves the point.

Footnote: In James M Barrie's book, Peter Pan "thins out" the Lost Boys when they grow up. In simplest terms, when they began to reach puberty he kills them. Strange that that never transitioned into any of the plays or movies.

They're the couple on the bridge in London who begin to float after getting sprinkled with pixie dust. Carrie also helped punch up the script

Love this movie, the score, everything. RUN HOME JACK

Thanks. I agree, this movie was great. It was one of those movies that Spielberg was consistently rumored to be making when I was in high school in the early to mid 80s, and then it finally came out after I graduated from A&M at the end of the decade of the 1980s. Loved every moment of it. To this day I keep the score as one of the most listened to on my iTunes account.

Emotional post alert:

My dad took me and my little brother out for a "Dad day" on a Sunday after church. We did all the types of fun stuff an 8 and 4 year old could do in 1991. We NEVER got to do stuff with dad all day. As dusk was settling we sat on a picnic bench in a park and he told us he and my mom were splitting up and he wouldn't be living at the house anymore starting that night. I cried for what seemed like an eternity. My little brother was too young to understand.

After that Dad took us to Baskin and Robins in the mall next to the movie theater. As we were leaving to go home I held onto his leg and begged him to go see a movie just because I knew that when we left we weren't a family anymore. He obliged and we saw Hook. I bawl like a little girl for the whole movie every single time I watch it, but I can never seem to change the channel when it's on. I actually teared up a little reading this thread.

Took a first date to see it my senior year of high school after a 5-star meal at the Meyer Park Chili's in Southwest Houston.
