to be fair west texas/oil/cowboy one-liners and tropes nearly write themselves especially when you have no line that is too far like Sheridan.

Is s1 worth a watch? I've enjoyed his more crime/special ops centered shows but never watched Yellowstone.

I am excited for Tulsa King s3 in a few weeks.

I enjoyed it enough. Gotta get through a handful of cringe scenes here and there, but if you're binging then it shouldn't be as much of an issue.

The period stuff in Vegas looks like pure gold and the post apocalyptic version makes me giddy for unexplainable reasons. PS I just got back from a week in Vegas.

I don't love those for sure... but I barely watch any commercial TV.

For me Goggins though has been like one show at a time and in a few of them he is like 3rd or 4th character or part of a big ensemble (like White Lotus) so I feel like I just get him in small doses anyway.

Looks like we're going to have a roughly two-week period toward the end of the year where...

- Fallout - Season 2
- It: Welcome to Derry - Season 1
- Landman - Season 2
- Pluribus - Season 1
- Stranger Things - Season 5

... are all airing around the same time. Oh, and Avatar: Fire and Ash will be premiering in theaters, while the first round of the College Football Playoff kicks off as well.

Pretty awesome.

Maybe True Detective Season 5 can hire a better writer instead of that hodgepodge they presented in 4 where they foolishly show horned in the Cohle family and the Tuttle family. Such prime brisket turned into jerky. If anyone can save it though it's Nic Cage.

There was a really weird mix of positive critical reception for S4 that I just didn't get. They literally hand waved away the big mystery of the show which is never what True Detective was.

Love the idea of Cage in TD but…yeah.

Which is why I won't be watching. Viewership numbers don't differentiate between watching a show because you love it, watching a show because you hate (which I'll never understand), it or watching the show because you love the concept and you're desperately hoping at some point the show will redeem itself.

This lady proved her incompetence last year. Until Nic Pizzolatto returns True Detective is dead to me. At some point I'll just rewatch season 1 for the fourth time.

IIRC she had pitched the show as something new, and HBO made her shoehorn in the true detective stuff. I think the season would have been fine on its own if it was called something else. MAYBE with her knowing going into this season that it will be a TD show she'll do a better job. Hopefully

That was what was so frustrating about the situation and the no talent ass clown execs all got paid & promoted instead of being fired for burning the prime brisket. The Tuttle/Cohle story was so meaty and it got completely ruined. And instead of picking somewhere like Nola or Atlanta for season 5 where the Tuttle story can easily pick back up, they will likely go back to Alaska and use the two rather mediocre performances by Foster and what's her name as the anchor.
