Still a great show, but not sure if this season really moved along the overall story. Pretty much setting up for a new big conflict next season.

Also really didn't learn anything more about the builders and their destroyer.

Exactly how i would describe book 4, by far the weakest book. Which is what this is based on.

I can see why they did it, and it probably works fine (I only watched the first episode last night), but in the book, Alex and Naomi can't survive on the planet due to the gravity so they have to stay in orbit.

It set up a big part of the action in the book and the crew being separated brought them closer together when they are reunited.

I did enjoy Naomi and Alex vs the Edward Israel Militia, it created some really good tension in the book especially since it was made personal between Holden and Murtry after Naomi was captured.

Plus Havelock training the engineers was good comic relief for how depressing everything down on Ilus was.

Personally, this was my least favorite book in the series and this plotline right here was absolutely my least favorite part of the whole series.

It made no sense how rabid these supposedly highly educated/trained engineers became in all the fighting with the Rocinante crew, especially with the situation EVERYONE was in on the planet.

I guess I should have lightened up and just taken it as comic relief, but, I kept hoping Amos would get sent up the well to single handedly murder that whole plotline. I was almost tempted to put the series down after this book, but, thankfully I found book five to be pretty awesome.

The belters killed a bunch of their friends and the Roci's crew were helping them.

The part with the belters I completely understand... I guess during my reading I didn't think the Roci crew was THAT involved with the Belter crew to warrant the RCE guys trying to blow up the ship. Can we add in how I thought the horny scientist subplot was pretty dumb, too?

Agreed on that. 4 was my second least favorite. Book 6 was the least enjoyable to me.

I think they are all good though.

Part of it has less to do with reality and more to do with people reacting irrationally. Holt and the crew of the Roci pretty consistently try to stay on the side of right instead of being loyal to one side or another, but they get lumped in with one side or another whenever there is a conflict (or in this case both sides). I'd forgotten the horny scientist part of the book...

I hope Bezos like the results this season and we get to see a few more. There's some epic stuff once we get past this book.

book spoilers, jic
I mean, the Roci was harboring a fugitive(Basia), RCE catches Naomi disabling the sabotaged shuttle, Basia attempts to break her out, then Havelock flees with them back to the Roci, and Murty ordering them to attack all combine to have their little militia riled up enough to go in so aggressively.
And yes, it was a relief to not have to deal with that dumb subplot

Only through episode 4, but enjoying it so far. I am glad they switched Amazon, Chrisjen can finally talk like her character.

I'll be honest, from reading the books I always had Jason Momoa as Marcos. But I guess he is busy being Aquaman.

I don't know anything about the actor they casted for Marco, but he is more or less exactly what I envisioned. Someone clearly very smart and able to really talk and convince others, but also has a touch of the crazy. Not a physically imposing person, but scary nonetheless.

This season was awesome though. Love that they omitted some of the tedious subplots from the book but kept all the awesome ***** Amos was on another level in every great way possible. The Ashford changes were fantastic. Loved how they teased who is behind the Martian military stuff

My only real complaint was the overuse of the F bomb, especially from Avasarala. I am glad they were able to show how foul mouthed she is, but in the books she is much more colorful and creative. I wanted to see her totally eviscerate one of her underlings or Gao. The closest I get we got was her message to holding about picking up a comm. Just felt cheap. Like, we can cuss now! Let's just drop **** every other line. There are other great curse words you know.

I don't think they should cast anyone who is all yoked out as a belter. They're supposed to be adapted to life on the float.

You could tell me how long the bad acting and dialogue lasts before it gets good. Or was the question not obvious enough?

This was my favorite book in James S.A. Corey's Expanse series: Cibola Burn.

I haven't watched Season 4 yet, but as you might expect, the books are fantastic. The show follows the books quite closely.

If you haven't checked out the book series I thoroughly recommend it. Book one is Leviathan Wakes.
Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting.

I love this show but for me this season seriously dragged in the middle. Plot was way too slow.

This season was based on the weakest book in the series. They managed to salvage it and set up the much better books to come.

I'm already looking forward to season 5.

The book that this season covers was almost exclusively on Ilus, so if anything, it was even slower.

Adding some plots on Earth and Mars helped.

My one problem with the season:

in the books, they made a big emphasis on how the disaster really brought the belters and the RCE employees together, forcing them to put aside their differences to survive. By the end of the book, there was no division between them, having to rely on each other. The show didn't do that great of a job showing that imo.

Just finished. That was a ******* great season. I feel like the pacing was good, and there was enough given to us to know what was happening back in the Sol system. I feel like they have a great setup for season five.

The final segment of Klaes' boarding action was phenomenal. His character changed from someone I loathed last season to someone who turned into an interesting character who spoke softly and acted calculated, yet defiant to the end. I'm looking forward to the payoff from him sending the transmission next season.

I guess after a while this seems like a plot hole way of writing out the character, he's dead one way or another so you might as well take the shot. But Marcos had to have plot armor for the next book/season.

finished the books last night and man does this series have potential in future seasons based off of source material. If they stick to it this could be one of the best sci fi series ever!
