I thought Guns and Roses would become an iconic band that lasted decades. Then full crazy captured them.
I think this speaks more to the fall of rock music than those specific bands. I thought that garage sound was gonna be the next big thing in rock & roll, but it was apparently just its last gasp (on a mainstream, popular scale).Head Ninja In Charge said:

I wonder how huge Guns N Roses would have been if Axl hadn't been such a jerk and run off all of his talented bandmates.

Thanks, I'll check it out. I'm genuinely puzzled why Marvelous 3 didn't take off huge. Great hooks and great lyrics. They're kind of like the modern day equivalent to the Smithereens, who deserved more success too.Jim01 said:
Marvelous 3 was such a great catchy band.
Butch Walker is great solo and has had a nice career behind the scenes. He was nominated for 2 Grammys last year for producing two different rock albums (Weezer and Fall Out Boy).
Also highly recommend this documentary about him around recording what's is still one of my all time favorite albums. (Butch Walker and The Black Widows - The Spade).

Vivid (1988) and Time's Up (1990) we're both really good albums, and the band won a Grammy for best hard rock performance in 1990. It looked like they were destined for greatness, but they just petered out and disbanded in '95.
They reunited in 2000, but didn't experience anything remotely near the success they had in the late 80's.

I love both. Zebra's stylistic similarity to Led Zep may have limited their appeal to a broader audience. Triumph had a lot of success, but by Sport of Kings they weren't really exploring any new ground. Between the two, I find myself wishing that Zebra had released more material. I'm satisfied with Triumph's body of work. (Can't get enough of Rik's solo and collaborative work after Triumph, though.)MSFC Aggie said:Completely agree with Zebra. But Triumph??Psychag said:
