I really thought Big Wreck was gonna be big. The Oaf (My Luck is Wasted) was such a good song.

Christopher Cross. Amazing Grammy winning debut album, song for a hit film, then PR folks said he was too ugly for MTV.
This is one of my favorite singers ever.HtownAg92 said:

The Mavericks. Guess they weren't country enough and not edgy enough for alternative.
I'm also surprised that Garbage isn't more popular than they already are, but I understand they are making new music. I guess when your band is a side gig/hobby it takes backstage to convenience.
You can't really classify what they do, but it's damn good.

I saw Pushmonkey open for KISS in San Antonio in '96. I was sure they were going places.Mookie said:
Live had one big album then poof, gone.
Pm dawn too.
Local band, always thought pushmonkey would make it. Tripping daisy is my ultimate music tragedy.
Secret Samadhi was #1/multiplatinum and had a #1 hit and #3 hit.Mookie said:

Live is another band that got caught in the transition from grunge into the next big thing. Secret Samadhi and The Distance to Here were also pretty good and big albums, but their next experimental album, V, was released a week after 9/11 and never did much.Quote:

Huh.. didn't know they were a bar rescue bar.GoAgs92 said:
Buckcherry is also playing at the wildcatter in katy.
When that place was bar rescued i thought they should of made a music venue and called it Katy City Limits....instead of an oil themed bar.
I liked Mental Jewelry and Throwing Copper, but I didn't care for anything that followed those two.Quad Dog said:Live is another band that got caught in the transition from grunge into the next big thing. Garbage still surprises me that they aren't bigger. They have eight fairly big singles across two albums and then nothing ever had commercial success after that. They had a break between 2005 and 2012 but outside of that window, even with Butch Vig's producer duties, they tour often and have put out albums regularly. Just on their legacy alone they should be headlining outdoor amphitheaters size venues and not House of Blues.SWCBonfire said:

I saw them multiple times and always liked them. I still play their CD every once in a while on long road trips.gggmann said:
Breedlove - mid 90's Austin band. I used to go listen to them play at Steamboat on 6th St a lot. Jimmy Vaughn's son was guitarist in the band. They released one album which is really good, but they fell apart shortly afterwards.
Just getting into Butch Walker after seeing an episode of Eddie Ball In Pursuit of Tone featuring him, and I'd never heard of him. Seems like a super cool dude, and I'm loving The Spade and certain songs from Afraid of Ghosts and Stay Gold.Jim01 said:
Marvelous 3 was such a great catchy band.
Butch Walker is great solo and has had a nice career behind the scenes. He was nominated for 2 Grammys last year for producing two different rock albums (Weezer and Fall Out Boy).
Also highly recommend this documentary about him around recording what's is still one of my all time favorite albums. (Butch Walker and The Black Widows - The Spade).

I still love seeing the video for Synthesizers.Jim01 said:
