I hope Better Call Saul start winning Emmys in Drama now that GoT reign is over after tonight.

Wouldn't hold your breath. McKean wasn't even nominated for his last season, and Odenkirk and Banks have never won either.

The academy has shown it no love.

I wonder why that is. Do you think they get snubbed because it's "just a spinoff?"

It's possible. It's also in the shadow of BB and it's never quite taken off like that did. I guess that hasn't helped it much.

I like Ozark but Garner winning it over all the GoT nominees is pretty ridiculous.
This was a big shocker for me but I'm not mad at it. She's pretty damn amazing in that show. Still shocking considering how much the GoT cast was expected.

No directing award to any of the GoT directors.
To me this was pretty ridiculous. I like Ozark, but I don't see how that's a more impressive directing job than any number of the GoT episodes.

And then for GoT to win best drama when it clearly was not. WTF.

I enjoyed GoT last season more than most people, but for me Better Call Saul is absolutely the best show on TV and the fact that it can't win is ridiculous.

I liked GoT last season too, but I'm happy the director of that super dark night battle episode didn't win. I would have been happy with any of the other GoT nominees winning.

My guess is they split the votes among the 3 GoT episodes.

Again, if they had just internally agreed and submitted a single episode, they likely (and should've) won for The Long Night.

I think this really hurt Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, and Lena Headey as well. But, HBO would have to ask two of them to bow out, but I doubt they would want to do that.

It's actually kind of a bummer that Maisie Williams, Sophie Turner, and/or Lena Headey will never win for GoT.

Whichever of them wins it is well deserved.

Try none of them

Quote:

Back on a Sunday and hence up against the Rams-Cleveland Browns matchup on NBC's Sunday Night Football, TV's biggest night had its worst night ever. The 5.7/10 in metered market results for the Emmys is the lowest rating the annual ceremony has achieved in early metrics coming off successive years of new lows in an age of endangered awards shows.

They should probably air them on Netflix next year.

One of the strange dichotomies is a show that is essentially about shows not on network TV being presented on network TV. How many more years will that continue?

I love Fleabag, but I'm not sure I'd catagorize it as a comedy. It started that way, but after 3-4 episodes it added quite a bit of drama - the confusion, anger and complexity of the relationship between Fleabag and her sister based on the death of the friend are fantastic, but in no way funny. When they showed that Fleabag had slept with her friend's lover, leading to her attempt at a sympathy accident was shocking. Following that up with her sister's judgements around it. Wow - and not funny. Maisel is the better "comedy" to me, but I love both shows.
