I'm thinking of getting one for my game room to put next to the slot machine. I'm really liking the Jersey Jack brands that are coming out.

I know some Libyans with a shoddy bomb casing full of some parts you could make one out of.

Nice write up!
Well my wife is suggesting it so I think I'll jump on it before she changes her mind. I personally like the Willie Wonka because I grew up with that movie. She likes the a Wizard of Oz. I haven't played either. I have played and enjoyed Total Annihilation at one of the local arcades and it was cool. There's one for sale that was played at one of the DFW pinball places like the Cidercade but it's all beat up.
Stern is the standard best I can tell, I'd just have to really like the theme to spend $4-7k. I wish they had a Dallas (the oil and gas show) one. Like you mentioned a home used one would be best just haven't decided which one. I probably need to get out and play more of them. I did try to attend the Texas Pinball Festival last year in Frisco with the family but they didn't have an observer entry, just $40-50/person and I wasn't going to drag the family of 4 through a cavalcade of nerds for $200.

Unless you are set on a real pinball machine (which is awesome) take a look at virtuaPIN and one of the many kits out there.

You can also build your own from scratch if you are so inclined.

It is a nice novelty where you can play a lot of different machines, but it is virtual.

I grew up playing my dad's Magic Castle pinball machine. Loved it!

Unfortunately when it broke down, parts were nearly impossible to find (all before internet) and finding/getting someone to repair it was another difficult task.

It hasn't worked in probably 20+ years and every time I ask him if he'll ever repair it, it's a quick thought and back to whatever he's working on - just not enough interest for him to fix it at this point. But it looks really cool in his office and goes great with all his other magic memorabilia.

Love playing pinball tho.

There's an old pinball game called Fish Tales that I loved and that I would like to own someday.

Kids today will never know the sadness of the day when the local bowling alley switched from 5 balls per game to 3.

Bought a slot machine and pinball machine from this company several years ago. I believe the owner is an aggie.

If you are in dallas, the makerspace has a group that restores and Reskins classic analog pinball machines.

Here is an example of one that a member did.

I've thinned my collection out quite a bit but have owned over 40 of them and as of last month had 17 of them. 13 of them upstairs at the house. Wife hates them with a passion. I've only owned games from the 90s to current including most of the Jersey jack games. Got into doing high end restorations on them a couple years ago and turned the third car garage into a pinball restoration shop. Warning: this does not help you get any chicks

Let me know if you have any questions. I know more than I care to. Lol

If you are into being friends with grown men that put 13 pinball machines in their home, I'll gladly accept.

You said you had a wife so I hope I can safely assume that the pinball room is not a trap.

Just got done playing the Jurassic Park LE. One of Stern's best in a long time.

Thanks for the comment on white water. That one was restored by chris Hutchins at high end Pins. Had to be the nicest example in existence. Unfortunately, I sold it.

You can see the detailed pics on the ad here. She was a beauty. https://pinside.com/pinball/market/classifieds/archive/83828

Does that Game of Thronea one play well for the first few levels. Slowy get worse, but has a few good spots, then fall flat at the endgame and basically lock the paddles on you?

Holy smokes man! Beautiful machines! They look to be in fantastic shape with LED's. Some classics in there many that I've never seen.
You should have an Aggie Pin get together. I'll bring the whiskey and wine.

My dad has a Bally Bobby Orr pinball machine. He still has it but it needs maintenance to live again. Lasted about 25 years until it broke down. My dad purchased both the pinball machine and pool table without mom knowing. She didn't get mad... she just got the bedroom set and kitchen she always wanted as retaliation. Fair trade!

https://pinside.com/pinball/machine/bobby-orrs-power-play

I spent many a day on a high chair as a kid to play that game. I used to sneak into the game room late at night to play. To my 3 years old surprise, my parents heard me.

Ha. Well, thank you very much. I personally restored the Fish Tales and Theatre of Magic (the one with all the custom brass trim) games. For any of you considering buying one of these things, I will tell you what a good friend and collector told me..."you will always want one more". I went from a plan of only buying one to owning 17 at once within a 15 months. It becomes an addiction so be careful! Lol
