Which TV show went from being awesome to being terrible?

TV shows seldom go out on top (Seinfeld comes to mind)

some are meh their entire run.

Most shows jump the shark at some point, then fall off, then go off the air.

Some get really bad before the plug is pulled.

Some shows were awesome at their peak, them completely sucked at the end.

Which TV show has the biggest ratio of (awesome at its prime) divided by (sucked at the end)?

The first one that comes to mind is that 70's show. Really good at some point, and the last season was a nightmare. Maybe 9/1 for a ratio of 9.

Happy days comes to mind too. Went from the Fonz battling the Malachi brothers in a smash up derby and making out with Pinkie Tuskadero to plot lines involving Chachi and Joanie (with Fonzie being a teacher). Maybe a ratio of 9.5/0.5.

Any others come to mind?

The Office after Steve Carrell left. They managed to pull together a decent final season and good finale, but it really went downhill with no Michael.

American Horror Story - After Season 1

So good. After that even the okay seasons you are trying to talk yourself into being good.

Power. Somewhere around season 3 they lost me. I've tried twice and can't do it.

In terms of a smooth glide from awesome to ****, nothing even comes close to sons of anarchy.

It peaked in the first episode and slowly glided down with each episode in each season getting progressively worse and worse until the masterpiece of crap that was the finale.

The Office was never terrible tho. Even in its meh last 3 seasons it was still so much better than 90% of network tv

I'd sayTwin Peaks, but again some people may just say I didn't get David Lynch as an artist (although I loved the first few episodes).

The Simpsons has been crappy since before the current class of Freshmen at A&M were born.
True story. It fell of a cliff around the year 2000. It's been bad longer than it was good.

I'm with you brother, and so is my wife. First season was solid, then it was all wtf for us.

Wow, it feels good to get that off my chest.

I thought it was great until the last season, then it got stupid. Apparently FX thought so to, as they cancelled the crap out of it and I didn't care.

I don't think all of these shows went bad. I think they got too popular and had everyone weighing in on what they thought would/should happen. Many of these shows were ruined at water cooler and in message boards.

My gut reaction to this question was SOA and Heroes.

The only blip on the downhill slide that you alluded to was the season finale when Opie got to off the psycho lady cop. That was an awesome episode.

But other than that, you're spot on.
