Heroes is the most obvious answer. I've never seen a show go from great to bad as quickly as that show.

Not that it was super awesome but as a kid I thought it was a fun show. The last season was sooo cringe worthy.

The A Team.
I was a big A Team fan when I was a kid. Recently, I was at home during a weekday and caught a marathon of episodes. I'm guessing it was during the final season, because they had Robert Vaughn and some younger hip guy named Frankie Santana as additions to the team. I don't remember that at all from when I was a kid. I guess I quit watching it by then.

Heroes was the first show I thought of too. Started with a great premise (before the super hero movie craze) and interesting character development, but suddenly EVERYONE had a super power and it became a cartoonish mess.

Season 7 tanked 'em. Was good up to that point.

That is exactly what I was talking about. I like Robert Vaughn as an actor but those shows were high school drama class awful.

True Detectives season 1 was great...season 2 was garbage.

But then season 3 was pretty decent (not as good as 1 but much better than 2.

That doesn't seem to be the premise of what the OP wanted.

Nip/Tuck. The writer's strike really took it off a cliff and it never recovered.

I didn't realize there was ever a season 3...probably blocked it out if I ever heard it.

The Office
Xfiles
Sherlock
That 70s show

Not sure how I forgot the most obvious one: the Simpsons

I had forgotten what a turd LOST turned into. That might be the winner

Also, I used to love walking dead. Never missed an episode. Now I can't stand it. Literally unwatchable. Did it get bad or did I just get bored?

Heroes is an excellent choice. I think the best choice.

Nip/Tuck might be one of the most insane shows I've ever watched. There is no way in hell that show gets made in 2019. I loved it purely from a train wreck perspective but never watched the last season (maybe last two?) because it went so far off the rails. Those writes were on hard core drugs.

If we expanded this to movies, there is only one choice: godfather 3 vs either 1 or 2. If I ever buy the dvd box set, I'm gonna open it and pull out/smash part three at the register. Part 3 never happened. I don't care what anyone says.

Deadliest Catch is another for me. I didn't miss an episode. I actually ate lunch with Captain Phil, my wife, and some of her coworkers about 9 months before he died. It was a good time and he had a lot of sea stories to tell. After he died, that show just went to s**t. So much manufactured drama now. In the first seasons it was just enough to showcase one of the most deadly occupations. Now its all fake drama.

The Flash - I have something like 38 shows on the DVR that I haven't watched because, well, I don't care to watch them. Maybe one day, I'll binge them, but I doubt it.

The problem is that it was never a great show so probably doesn't fit the mold of your request.

A couple other present shows; Blacklist and This is Us

I would say it started out pretty good, arrow as well. There were plenty of cheesy moments in both but yeah we quit both. I've been tired of arrow for a couple seasons and then the flash last season lost me.

Was that after right after season 2? I never realized it was a writer's strike that cause that. I thought the season2 finale was one of the best season finales of all time, then it went WTF?

Edit: Nope it was season 5. I thought it took a nosedive prior to that.

Here's a big obvious one missed so far....

Dallas

That show started off so awesome, had so many great seasons in the early 80s and then bam it went straight to hell. The turning point obviously being Bobby's return. Then a season or two after that, the budget cuts to the scenes and scenery were very very obvious. No more expansive ranch shots, no more Ewing BBQ, writers leaving the show, etc...

And the series finale, was really an injustice to its once greatness.

The poster that put Heroes in their list is correct. That was my immediate thought.

any show that introduces a kid late in the run is a death sentence for the series.
- Scooby Doo with Crappy
- Oliver with Brady Bunch
- Raven with Cosby Show
- Leo Di Caprio with Growing Pains

I have to agree with Blacklist. It didn't help that we started like 4 seasons behind and binged them on Netflix before last season. I think it started being repetitive and going down hill about season 4 and last season and so far this season have been very underwhelming. Like last season you knew they weren't going to kill Raymond because he is the whole premise of the show.

Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl. They had a couple of really great seasons and should have just found a landing and ended each series, they are just painfully bad now with Arrow being the absolute worst.

Alias. The first show I really binged and bought the DVD's for the first couple of seasons and loved it but winded up bailing midway through season 4 and never even watching season 5.

The OC. I liked the show but the last season was a train wreck. They should have just ended once Mischa Barton left.

Omg Arrow. The more people oliver told who he was the worse the show got.

Dallas is a good entry into the discussion. It really sucked at the end from what I hear. With that said, I was too young to know how good it was at its prime

Dexter - this one is the king of all shows that went from great to terrible
Shameless
The Office after Michael
House of Cards. Kevin Spacey was that show, as much as I hate to say it.
Weeds. once they left Agrestic the show sucked and Nancy became the most unlikable character.
Lost... the last season wasnt "terrible" necessarily but there is a stark contrast in quality from the first 3 seasons.

Bottom line is shows that go on for too long will inevitably start sucking. Shows that end at the right time are remembered for being great (e.g. Breaking Bad)

My top two

Heros and Lost....the writers strike killed heros. Was never the same after that. Didn't lost get caught up in that too?

The Office after Steve Carrell left. They managed to pull together a decent final season and good finale, but it really went downhill with no Michael.

The Office was never terrible tho. Even in its meh last 3 seasons it was still so much better than 90% of network tv

This is a flat out lie. Season 6 and 7 of the office were a pale imitation of the show's prime. And 8 and 9 are some of the most painfully unfunny seasons in television history.
