Watched the latest finally polished turd this morning. Spoilers ahead.
The Good: An absolute homage to one of the most classic moments of Ronald D. Moore's BSG 2004 series where the Galactica drops into New Caprica's atmo and it looks like the whole ship is on fired - redone with Sojourner 1 going into Titan's atmosphere.
The Unintentionally Good: Getting sucked out into Mars' atmosphere and dying sounds like a better time then watching your 3 friends, the old Korean guy, and 20 extras who are clearly dancers hired for this scene, do a line dance to "Starships" by Nikki Minaj, especially when you thought you were about to lose your Martian V-card on your birthday.
The Truly Terrible, feel free to add your own:- MIles - I finally learned that guy's name - says that after 6 months in isolation, the "money system is starting to break down" on Mars. Uhhh, dude, everyone there works for a company on Earth. Those companies would stop sending paychecks out in a heartbeat, nobody has any money at all and most people have no job to do.
- Blonde not-so-great security lady has been elevated from being a flunkie to Triumverate of Leadership with Miles and Hispanic guy I never saw before 2 episodes ago.
- It's been 6 months and the US hasn't sent a strike team of space marines up Mars to take back the planet and kill the traitors. All we did in the glorious second season was kill Russians on the moon. Where did we go wrong?
- The Russian ship headed to Titan decides to call Sojourner asking for help about 23 seconds before reaching the point of utter catastrophe.
- In a 10-minute span, Kelly calls her own father, the greatest astronaut of all-time a p&ssy, then commits treason and risks 5 other people's lives.
- Mr. Terrific yet again has done something totally illegal. That guy has to stay on Mars because he would be shot on sight back on Earth.
- Miles overrides the flight control commander and gets them to broadcast the Sojourner appearing to be destroyed on the loudspeakers. I like the message it send to Alex: "Hey you know how your grandfather died and your best friend left, and your actions have caused all this BS to happen, and then another one of your friends died like 2 hours ago, how about we put on a broadcast of your mom potentially dying as well?"
The Missed Saving Grace:There should have been aliens or an obvious alien structure on Titan when they got off the ship. The second choice is hopefully where the show is going. if the breakthrough is Kelly finds something that you can only see under a microscope, nobody will care even more.
