As much as I loved the first 3 seasons of FAM, it has become a show of extremely diminished returns. I'm not even sure who the main character is right now. Yesterday's epsiode recycled the end of season 4 plot halfway through season 5 with the riot. Unless Kelly finds some really bad-ass aliens on Titan, I think I'm not going to keep watching, which I really hate given how amazing those first 3 years were.

Yeah, with Ed's passing it's hard to tell who the main character is supposed to be. Bad acting (Alex) and a weak storyline is really tanking this season.

They've hit every trope of the alphabet mafia and DEI in the first few seasons. Curious to see what's left

This season is terrible. What made this show so great was the alternate timeline and nostalgia with it. You had the nasa culture and the Cold War tension for decades. Space was the main character. It was great.

I could overlook the hints and minor wokeness it presented over the first few seasons, but now's it's jumped all in on the social and politics. The main character is now personal drama and politics. It's no longer the back ground of a space story, but front and center.

The space exploration for the most part is dead or a subplot at best and the direction it's going has zero appeal to me. I tried to stay episode 5 and just couldn't get through it.

Cynthy Wu's character has annoyed the crap out of me the entire series.

Just started watching this and have binged through the first two seasons. I love the space stuff...the other stuff on the periphery is 'eh'. I am putting Karen Baldwin in the same club occupied by Skyler White and Betty Draper.

Friday's episode was mildly better. I've started watching "Your Friends and Neighbors" with Jon Hamm on Apple and decided to hang onto my subscription so guess I'll ride out FAM to the end of this season at least.

The acting in this show has gotten progressively worse each season. The plot has now started to follow that trend

they've ran outta plots. Even finding life on another planet isn't enough to carry the series anymore.

Now it has to be the poor people against the meanie govts trying to make money on the asteroid

Making it about normal people was the worst mistake the show ever made. They should have jumped it ahead 100 years or so.

Every episode since the start of season 4, I've been rooting for cool goatee Mars everyman guy to die, and every episode I'm disappointed. He's the lead actor in the credits now for god's sake.

This show was awesome over the first couple of seasons, but the decline began after season 2. Now it has become rather tiresome over the last few episodes. I'll probably stick with it to the bitter end, though.

Well as some point I guess Gordo and Trish granddaughter has to show up either to save the day or turn pysco like her dad.

Or President Trump is elected to make Mars Great Again

Yeah what was great about this series originally was the whole alt timeline stuff. Now it's just devolved into a lame space opera with stupid in-fighting and bad acting. They should have skipped all the people drama garbage and kept up with the advanced exploration timeline - it would have remained unique that way. Now, it just looks like some bad series on the sci-fi channel from 20 years ago.

Watched the latest finally polished turd this morning. Spoilers ahead.

The Good: An absolute homage to one of the most classic moments of Ronald D. Moore's BSG 2004 series where the Galactica drops into New Caprica's atmo and it looks like the whole ship is on fired - redone with Sojourner 1 going into Titan's atmosphere.

The Unintentionally Good: Getting sucked out into Mars' atmosphere and dying sounds like a better time then watching your 3 friends, the old Korean guy, and 20 extras who are clearly dancers hired for this scene, do a line dance to "Starships" by Nikki Minaj, especially when you thought you were about to lose your Martian V-card on your birthday.

The Truly Terrible, feel free to add your own:

  • MIles - I finally learned that guy's name - says that after 6 months in isolation, the "money system is starting to break down" on Mars. Uhhh, dude, everyone there works for a company on Earth. Those companies would stop sending paychecks out in a heartbeat, nobody has any money at all and most people have no job to do.
  • Blonde not-so-great security lady has been elevated from being a flunkie to Triumverate of Leadership with Miles and Hispanic guy I never saw before 2 episodes ago.
  • It's been 6 months and the US hasn't sent a strike team of space marines up Mars to take back the planet and kill the traitors. All we did in the glorious second season was kill Russians on the moon. Where did we go wrong?
  • The Russian ship headed to Titan decides to call Sojourner asking for help about 23 seconds before reaching the point of utter catastrophe.
  • In a 10-minute span, Kelly calls her own father, the greatest astronaut of all-time a p&ssy, then commits treason and risks 5 other people's lives.
  • Mr. Terrific yet again has done something totally illegal. That guy has to stay on Mars because he would be shot on sight back on Earth.
  • Miles overrides the flight control commander and gets them to broadcast the Sojourner appearing to be destroyed on the loudspeakers. I like the message it send to Alex: "Hey you know how your grandfather died and your best friend left, and your actions have caused all this BS to happen, and then another one of your friends died like 2 hours ago, how about we put on a broadcast of your mom potentially dying as well?"
The Missed Saving Grace:
There should have been aliens or an obvious alien structure on Titan when they got off the ship. The second choice is hopefully where the show is going. if the breakthrough is Kelly finds something that you can only see under a microscope, nobody will care even more.
