How long do you want to ignore this user?
I've searched inside the forum and via Google. Haven't seen the discussion for this season.

I'm spent the past few months catching up and followed the other Texags discussions for seasons 1 thru 3. Really surprised there isn't a season 4 discussion.

Anyway, just finished watching Error 407, and I cried. A lot. Damn this show is so much more than hacking. This episode blew my mind, and nothing that I read predicted this. Wow.

I'll wait to write more after others join the discussion, but more Emmy awards might be coming for this episode. Damn Rami Malek is an incredible actor.

Wow.

I haven't watched tonight's episode yet, but am caught up otherwise and this season has been phenomenal so far. I don't know why more people aren't talking about it. I think season two lost a ton of viewers/goodwill, but last season was excellent. That said, I guess maybe it was just too long between last season and this one. With a show like this, you can't go nearly two years between seasons and expect people to stay tuned in.

I'll have a chance to catch up later this week and will chime in when I do, but good to hear that it sounds like a hell of an episode. Looking forward to it.

Yeah Season 2 was my least favorite. Just a bit too chaotic and didn't seem to have much direction. Season 3 picked up, and it wasn't a wait to get to season 4 since I just got into the show.

I only heard about it after watching Homecoming (which I loved) and seeing all the references to Mr Robot. I was initially turned away by a "hacker" TV show, but hacking takes a background to the primary plot: understanding Elliot Alderson. Everyone wants to understand him, including himself. Hacking is his outlet, but not really the point of the show.

It will be good to get other people's input on how this episode shines light on all the past episodes and everything else. I'm sure there's stuff I missed or have forgotten about. The reddit thread exploded and there's some deep discussion there.

I feel like this show would absolutely benefit from a binge watch. I've watched it in real time since it first aired and as much as I like it, I can never remember what happened in the season prior.

This season has been my favorite so far. It's been crazy to see how much Sam Esmail has grown in the past two years. So much character development and revelation all in very unique ways. The Whiterose background. The complex growth and internal struggle of Tyrell.

I didn't even realize 405 had only a few spoken lines until my friend pointed it out.

And now we are starting to see the reason why so many characters connect and identity elliot and his pain.

I was going to start a thread on the show this morning, so I'm glad you did.

Last night's episode was phenomenal. Three fantastic acting performances that carried the weight of Elliot's journey. So good. Funny enough, I thought it was an 8 episode final season (its 13), so I was a little confused on why they decided to do that for the penultimate episode.

I've really enjoyed this season, even if I can't remember all the previous details like a couple of y'all have said. I'm not sure exactly what the big point is, but the acting/directing are so good that I'm just enjoying each episode for the experience. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Exactly why I stopped watching. Loved season 1. Then watched season and it was ok, and didn't hear anything about it.

I just watched episode 1 of the new season over the weekend and thought it was very good. But it's been so long that I don't really remember everything that happened and all the story lines. I'm sure that there will be a lot that I will miss out on bc of not remembering everything. But I don't feel like doing a complete rewatch.

Maybe I'll do a binge watch at some point.

Glad this thread finally got started. This season has been nails and I'm excited to see what Esmail has in store for the end.

Yeah, that was interesting how they did that. In fact, at the very beginning, either he or Darlene says something like, "We don't have to talk.". Then, no dialogue at all until the last couple seconds when the thug comes up and says "We should talk".

Great season so far.

Episode 407 was an absolute master piece. One of the best episodes of television I have seen. Still blown away. Wow.

I think Rami wins another Emmy for that episode.

The performances (for the most) were of course incredible in this episode, and I loved the widescreen, cinematic, stage play nature of the whole thing. But man... I cannot stand the Fernando Vera character. He's so hammy, over-the-top, and laughably intense that I just can't go along with it. That, and I think Esmail's dialogue for him (and for most of his "urban" characters) is pretty bad at times. A guy like Vera referencing Frost/Nixon and Fox & Friends? Really?

On a technical/visceral level this episode was amazing. But in the end it veered a little too melodramatic for me and didn't feel at all necessary. Or, rather, I wish it had reached a different breakthrough on Elliot's part. The big, emotional reveal is that he was sexually molested by his dad? I'm not discounting the horror of something like that in any way, but it feels like such an out-of-no-where development, especially at this juncture. I love confronting the idea and necessity of Mr. Robot in this episode, and Elliot's emotional arc definitely needed a "Dark night of the soul" moment before the final push, but this particular choice felt a little too random and manufactured for my taste, even though I'm sure Esmail had it planned from the get-go.

I've also been so into the overall heist/White Rose elements of this season that this ended up feeling like a "take your medicine"/speed bump episode more than anything for me. I'm just so ready to get back to the end game action.

That's fair. There were certainly times were Vera was too over the top for me, but I bought in for this episode. I was able to find him smarter than he appeared and those references were part of it. I agree that the WhiteRose end game is the more interesting part of the story, but since it's a 13 episode season rather than 6, 7, 8, or 10 like most prestige shows, I'm good with Esmail going all in for 1 episode on a concept like he did.

Another excellent episode. Sunday nights with this, The Watchmen, and Silicon Valley make for an excellent end of the week.

Yeah another tear jerker, getting much deeper into the complexity of Elliot's abuse and showing, again how grand ambitions of saving or conquering the world pail in comparison to the abuse from a trusted family member.

Great episode, might be better than last week, and more great acting all the way around. This show just gets better every week. The suspense builds to what's happening on the other side of the world.
NASAg03
How long do you want to ignore this user?
These last 2 episodes have been emotionally exhausting. I love that Esmail is sticking with the gravity of this theme, but damn it's just more and more emotion and complexity to handle each week. I'm curious what the breakthrough is going to look like. Or does this emotion keep building for the next 3 episodes and lead to an ultimate breakdown?

I have no idea how this is going to end. Part of me is afraid it's going to be a "whaaaaat!?!? you gotta be kidding me. Eff you Sam and the 4 years you wasted."

Another great episode. Who was the Irish guy, though? Couldn't remember him from prior seasons.

From what I remember, he was from a seemingly random scene when Dom interrogated him on human trafficking charges. She got him off on a technicality in exchange for getting her family our of harms way from dark army.

Preview for next episode: switches away from the character focus and gets back to the overarching plot of Whiterose and the time machine.

Excellent action packed heist-type episode. So much going on, a few questions got a little more clarity, but still lots of mystery with 4 more episodes to go. Sam is really dragging this out, but it hasn't gotten boring so I'm okay with that and digging deeper into the various characters.

Gotta find out what happened to Tyrell though. That's an outlier that might be related to time parallel universe machine or whatever that is. I don't think it's a time machine. I'm starting to feel it's something like Event Horizon.

That's how I saw it, too. Didn't they drag his body back to the van before they burned it?

Well that certainly felt like a series finale. Great episode and a welcomed return to form. I can't believe we still have four episodes left, though. Surely we finally get to see the time machine in action at some point now...

I re-watched season 1 to try to fill in some gaps, specifically regarding Elliot and his mental condition. It may have been obvious, but it seems like he was a totally different person prior to the show starting. its as if his therapy with Krista created the Elliot we've seen in the show along with Mr. Robot. I think the "real" / pre-show Elliot is someone else entirely, which is what his mental state mother and younger self are referring to. I'm hoping they hash this out and we see what he was like pre-show and if he reverts back to that persona.

Also, I think Whiterose was telling the truth and Angela is alive via time machine/alternate world portal. I don't remember seeing Tyrel's body, I thought that was the dark army member in the van. I think Tyrel is still alive too somehow. Anxious to see what fills 4 episodes!

I found myself wondering what the final four episodes would be about, but excited to find out. Fallout from Deus group's downfall? Time travel? Elliot's mental state? All of the above?

I'm guessing all of the above. It's definitely time to pay off the promise of the time machine, though.

He did but as he fell to his knees he was looking at some blue light with a euphoric expression.

Calling my shot....Elliott killed his father. His therapy is a term of his juvenile parole / release. S1E1 he says he "has to" see Krista. She also talked about his anger issues, which isn't like the reserved/introvert Elliot in the show.

I think he killed his father too. Didn't one of the scenes with Krista say he had a baseball bat in his hand while in the closet? He put it down and submitted to the abuse? I think he killed his father with it. I expected that to be the next scene.

How does that mesh with his father dying at the movie theater?

Good point, but I have a hard time trusting any of Elliot's memories as 100% accurate at this point. He also may have passed out due to the illness but not died, idk.

Just caught up thinking the show was over. Oh well, can't say I'm mad that there are four more episodes to go. This season has been absolutely incredible.

What do you guys think the blue light with Tyrell is about?
