I haven't heard anything new on the Turnpike Troubadours. They're my favorite by a LONG shot and it's not even close. I haven't seemed to find anyone that has a full setlist that I can appreciate like theirs.

During college I loved drinking to Robert Earl Keen and Pat Green. My favorite for a while was Randy Rogers but as soon as I discovered Turnpike the others just don't do it for me. I went to Randy at the Moody Theater and I knew every song. We had a good time but man it's just not the same.

Who is putting together some good music that I can see locally?

A friend recommended Sun Valley Station. I heard a clip of them singing "Black", a Pearl Jam cover. Sounded pretty good but I haven't looked up anything else by them yet.

Look for the artists with original sound and lyrics and don't sing about drinking and stereotypical texas stuff.

I know that scene loves to bash on Nashville for singing too much about trucks and stuff, but Texas country and red dirt are becoming just as bad in their own way. I love Texas, but you can only sing about the state so many different times before it all gets obnoxious and starts to sound the same. Lyrics about margaritas, Lone Star beer, tacos, Gruene Hall, and comparing your woman to features and landmarks of the state have long-past run their course.

Listen to dickrebelradio.com on your computer fot free and pick some peiople . Whiskey myers,ryan bingham,sturgis simpson , and several others. Im in mississippi and it gets me my fix. And it plays all the other names already mentioned along with some CCR, stoney larue and some old willie, johnny and jerrry reed.

Rich O'Toole has some good stuff out there. Kyle Park has a few out now that I like. I listen to 100.3-3 and they play current texas artists. 92.9-3 plays older texas stuff, but they feel compelled to play Pat Green every fourth song. Dude was great, but not that good.

Spotify says that's my most played album of 2019. Saw them a couple months ago and became a fan.
