Two female lead singers, one alive, one dead, one a bit obscure (not lately tho) the other one of the best ever, both from this small Midwest city. Who are they and what city?

What? You wanted an easy one?

That is a GREAT guess but Ruby was from Toledo.

Is this some stupid trick question where Midwest could be in any country? Also, the title said rock trivia, so if this is some country or R&B singer, op needs to edit.

I've been wracking my brain trying to think of who even one of the people are. I've gone thru Crissy Hynde, Patti Smith, Kim Deal, Joan Jett. Can't think of it.

Thanks. I was more worried about spelling Hynde right than the first name.

Don't have one. Been wracking my brain for hours. The Chrissie/Ruby guess was as close as I've gotten. I have a hunch that "rock" may end up encompassing R&B or somesuch and hence the reason we are all striking out.

The only thing I can come up with is Patti Page and St. Vincent from Tulsa, but Patti Page is not rock and Tulsa is not a small city.

Hynde is one!

You know where she from.

She's alive so the other is dead.

Remember: I'm sure you've heard her lately...

(She's always been a fav of mine. Died too young)

Sweet, Triumph, Black Keys, Foghat, , Dave Alvin, Wilco, Linda Rondstadt, Donnie Iris...... that's like the last 8 songs I listened to last night. I should know this.

No clue. Like a drifter I was born to walk alone.

I had to google it so I know the answer, but I never would have guessed it in a million years. Super obscure unless you're into that subgenre of rock music.

Is it Patti Donahue from the Waitresses? That Christmas song by them is pretty obscure. I haven't heard it in a few years.

I googled also. If that's the answer, then I'll have to deem this trivia question ..... unworthy. Sorry OP, I'll always like your posts.

Yes, it's a Patty Donahue. She's always been a favorite of mine. Died of lung cancer at 40.

The hint that you might have heard from her lately was from Christmas Wrapping being played during a Christmas.

I always thought it curious the Chrissie and Patty were both from Akron.

Sorry you didn't like the question, but you never know what boys like...

Here's another:

This singer had two popular songs that both started with the same opening line: the first song was with a group and the second solo. He was popular in the late 70s and early 80s. I always thought he was a bit underrated but still performs today. Saw him two years ago at a music fest in Dallas.

Yes, I'm bored.

That's the Ruby I've been referring to earlier in the thread.

This looks like a great trivia question. I'm guessing Michael McDonald.

Man, I have no idea. Just a couple of guesses based on being in a band and a solo artist and in the 70s/80s:

Lionel Ritchie
Steve Perry

Sting reused lyrics a bit, but he wasn't just popular in the "early 80's". The rest of the names above mostly wouldn't play "music fests". Outside of M. McDonald, so he might be it. But can't think of the song. Did Steve Perry tour with that album he did recently?

This hasn't been guessed yet? If you said 2 singers that would be obvious.
George Harrison and James Taylor.
