You know it's funny... I really like him as an actor, and I don't think there's anyone that would argue he's not a great actor. He absolutely is... and he was phenomenal in Joker. I liked Joker, and he was great in it, but to me I just can't get behind him winning Best Actor. I think it's a couple of things...
I just don't think it was a stretch for him. I mean we've seen him play this type of character before several times (and always really well), but while the psychologically-tormented, lonely, disillusioned, male is always a choice role for films, I mean we've just seen it a million times in films.
And secondly, he's not even the greatest performance of this character. That's no knock on him, Ledger gave one of the most legendary performances ever... but it's hard for me to say he should win best Actor when he wasn't even the best Joker.... which kind of just goes back to my first point. The Joker is one of the best characters ever and provides any actor with a chance to give this type of performance. So it may just be the character itself that's great.
