"Much" better?

Ledger's performance is considered one of the best villain performances in cinematic history. At the absolute, rock bottom worst, it's equal to Phoenix's performance (though I'm with SP in that I believe Ledger's to be far better/more iconic).

One thing I really liked about the Nolan/Ledger Joker is that I really wanted to know how he evolved to become that persona AND I was really glad they didn't tell me. I liked the mystery, and it makes the character more interesting to me.

I thought Joker was well done and well acted I just don't like that Joker character as much. If that all makes sense.

May have already been said in this thread, but I'm curious if JP would have had the opportunity to even play this type of Joker if HL hadn't paved the way.
