Loved last season.

If they start running out of material i wonder if there's any chance they do a prequel going back to focusing on Escobar. The dude that plays him can still play him without age being a big issue imho.
There's more than Colombia and Mexico, but the two are the faces of the cartels in the US. There's still other organizations based out of Peru and Bolivia, but there's much more to cover just out of Mexico. The show can expand on people like Chapo and his use of Chicago. There's La Barbie and the Zetas if it starts getting into the 90s and 00s. Each cartel has its own story.

Narcos has yet to disappoint, and this season starts slow, but the build up is worth it. I had to look up the Pablo Acosta and Mimi relationship just to be sure if she was real. These things just write themselves.

No more Escobar.

There have been a million movies, TV shows, and documentaries about him.

There are plenty of other Drug Kingpins that Im sure also have interesting stories.
Season 3 was my favorite season of Narcos precisely because I was unaware of the story of the Cali cartel.

This season was good, but ultimately its probably my least favorite season.
The plot twist, and story lines are still amazing, but I never found my self connected to the protagonist like in past seasons.

This writer completely echoes my thoughts on this season. There were too many times I couldn't figure out what was really going on in an episode without a second viewing.

Quote:

So, you might be saying, okay, the plot sounds exciting enough, so what's the issue here? Well, remember the way Narcos episodes of the past would mix in the right balance of voiceover and astonishing facts to go with the episode? We barely got that in the second season, and I really feel like that adds to the allure of this series.

I think that is what caught our attention when this series first premiered, and it's always been their M.O. Unfortunately, we got scarce moments of that, but in those few moments we did get it, the series felt alive and exciting once again. That rush of riveting insight as we learn about the real-life individuals these stories are based on in the series is something I love about the series.

But that's not my only issue here. The season was lacking a coherent, sensible storyline that leaves viewers feeling underwhelmed. Now, the unexpected action sequences were thrilling and fun to watch, and I was always caught off guard by them. But spending an entire season seeking revenge for a character we only got to know over the course of one season sounds like a waste of time to me.

Episode 6: The flashback scene with boys playing war against the French. The actual execution of the maid was completely shocking!!! I did not see that coming
I was shocked by that as well, so I had to look it up to see if it really happened (it did). You can read about the real event this scene was based on below, under "Early Life and Education."

I thought this season was good. Not as good as the others, but really good.

Thoroughly enjoyed it but it kind of jumped the shark for me the last couple of episodes.

FBI agents participating in a raid with helicopter gun ships shooting up a small town with innocent people getting killed everywhere was just weapons grade dumb. Also, the DEA mission at the airport was just too "Hollywood" for a series that at least attempts to maintain some historical accuracy.

I think they are probably going to also need to re-cast someone for Chapo as I don't think that guy has nearly the chops needed for what will clearly be the expansion of that role in the next season (assuming there is a next season).

That's been my number 1 thought since they introduced el chapo. I get the sense that the current actor will likely be chapo if they go in that direction. There is likely still a season to go before he becomes the billionaire. I'm guessing the next season covers 1989-1993 and the cartel wars as well as the fall of the Cali cartel.

There is still a decades worth of cartel history in mx. The juarez cartel grows into the biggest led by el senor de los cielos and his intersting story. Meanwhile, the gulf and Sinaloa cartels grow. The gulf creates los zetas, tijuana fights with Sinaloa and kills a priest who was mistaken to be el chapo. Los zetas become their own cartel and la barbie introduces the torture vids that everyone uses now.and, we still have the rise to billionaire status of el chapo. Thats like two more seasons in Mexico. Tijuana and juarez both use US street gangs so that could flow into narcos USA.

Edit to add: the show already set up the next season in Mexico showing the different groups staring each other down and miguel angel saying "now you see what happens when you let the animals out of the cage"
