There is probably literally no one that only knows that song.
I wanted to test this theory. I went to Spotify to listen to their top 10 streamed songs and literally only know one of them. Yes, I listen to music. No, I'm not in my 20s.62strat said:Really? How do you find the top 10 streamed songs? I see the 5 listed as popular when you pull up their band page.J-Quob said:I wanted to test this theory. I'm still flabbergasted that some of you don't recognize more than one Def Leppard song. That honestly blows my mind.

A lot of you hate some awesome songs. Either that or you are mistaking overplayed for hated.
There's a difference between recognizing a song and knowing who sings it. Just like a lot of people could only name Enter Sandman for Metallica. Def Leppard sold a ton of records, but it was pretty much within a 10 year period. I think the only song of theirs that have really stood the test of time is Pour Some Sugar On Me. Almost everyone between the ages of 12-65 knows that song. If I played Love Bites to my students, I would get a bunch of blank stares.62strat said:
I would liken it to saying 'most people have only heard don't stop believing'. Sure maybe there's some millennial out there that can say that, but a large majority of people have also heard faithfully, any way you want it, open arms, or separate ways at some point in their life.
Again, you simply don't sell 100 million albums, two of them diamond, on one Omnipresent, song. That takes at least a few.

Blur. They have put out some great songs but I can't
stand Song 2.
They had other songs?
They're actually a fantastic band - Damon Albarn is a genius. They have tons of great songs, but I also love Song 2 still.

But I don't think I've even seen a non white since I moved to Parker 8 years ago. It's whiteville around here. It's also full of ****s in their 40s who I'm sure have heard more than pour some sugar on me.
That, and most of the songs being mention here aren't even from their best album....High n DryYelnick McWawa said:

Really, you think the however many tens of millions gen xers that were born in the 70s only know that song?Bruce Almighty said:62strat said:Really? Anyone that didn't grow up in the 80s only knows them for that one song.
I certainly never said that everyone can regurgitate the name of a second DL song. I said they would know another song. That means, it comes on, they hear it and say, yeh I know/have heard that song.Bruce Almighty said:There's a difference between recognizing a song and knowing who sings it. I just realized reading this thread that i don't really know any Def Leppard. Pour Some Sugar on Me, obviously. But i'm not even sure i could have come up with Def Leppard as the band who sings it...Yelnick McWawa said:

You didn't go wrong. I don't care for DL at all. They sound like an 80s version of a boy pop band to me.boy09 said:I just realized reading this thread that i don't really know any Def Leppard.
