Thought White Lies was pretty good when I listened through it. Interested to hear others thoughts on it.

I have a hard time believing anybody who listens to podcasts and a male between the ages of like 30-50 truly doesn't care for Bill Simmons. I don't like every episode, but he consistently gets A team guests and brings out great interviews out of all of them. The Dave Grohl interview earlier this week? I mean come on... it really doesn't get better than that in a podcast. He puts out probably 2 very good podcasts vs 1 dud... in the podcast world, that's a very good rate.
did you read his articles or listen to his pods back in the ESPN days?

like i said, i still listen and think he's a good interviewer, but i find that i enjoy him less than i used to.

I did and I really liked those too. I don't want to slobber all over him too much. I'm just saying to the whole package as an interviewer, original content, caliber of guests and production value, I really don't think there's a better podcast than his out there.

Used to listen to Carolla a lot and thought he was hilarious and the best in the business... but man... the repeated bits and stories just got old. And he's run some of his best recurring guests off.

I listened to all of Up & Vanished...it was rough. Payne Lindsay is a complete tool. He's terrible at story telling and structuring episodes of a podcast. He'd tease things that would never materialize. And he'd go out of his way to pat himself on the back. The 5 star reviews just fueled that AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND IT. I've stumbled upon a couple others by him and I just can't with that guy anymore.
Couldn't agree more about PL. Listened to almost all of Vanished and realized that I didn't really know any more about the crime than what was originally reported. Lots of rumors and red herrings. I would cut him some slack given that it was his first podcast but he did exactly the same thing with Atlanta Monster.

Heard an ad last night that he's getting a tv show (on oxygen or something).

I'm ready for Revolutions to end. I really liked the History of Rome and the earlier Revolutions but he's really started to get into the weeds with the French Revolution. I like context but he's bordering on Carlin with context.

Joe Rogan is great. Some of his guests have been inspirational to me. However Joe likes to present himself as being very knowledgeable. He definitely is more knowledgeable than most of the population, but imho his knowledge appears to be based on his reading of the first 50 pages of all these books he claims to read. Also, he talks about a lot of things that are clear urban legends or pop science beliefs like they are true.

Nevertheless, he's my favorite podcast.

I don't listen to him for what he has to say, I listen to it for what his guests have to say. He asks the right questions (mostly) and it's like I'm having the conversation with the intellectual people he has on. I like Joe, but I wouldn't go to him for facts or perspective outside of MMA, but he does a great job of getting interesting people on.

He lost me after the French Revolution for the exact same reason.

It's odd how people feel like they have to qualify their enjoyment of Rogan with some 'yes, but'.

I have had so many people recommend The Rewatchables to me and I just don't get it. I love tons of the movies they talk about, but they manage to take all the fun out of them.

Do you listen to Russillo's pod? Based on your other listens I'm guessing you would be a fan.

Yes, I should have listed him. With the change of name from Dual Threat, and now the change of pace to 2 times a week on his own and 1 a week with Simmons on Sunday night, I failed to to add him to the list.

I appreciate his college football content; the problem with his NBA content is that it tends to be a love and agreement bro-fest with Simmons or O'Connor.

I also have some others and will return to the thread.

It was also wrong for Ringer to throw @geoffshac overboard and morph the podcast into Fairway Rollin.'

Second, if they place content behind a Spotify paywall, guess who is not participating?

I will never pay for podcasts.

Ever.

Also, it's a lie that Simmons does not read Twitter replies.

Guess who is blocked by him, following the block lead of Amanda Dobbins and Sean Fennessey?

I'm a Russillo fan boy so I pretty much love all his stuff, but he's pretty spot on with College football and NBA stuff.

I love the idea behind stuff you missed in history class, but I couldn't stand the ladies or their presentation style of clearly reading off the sheet to the audience.

I listened to a ton of Stuff You Should Know, but it started to wear on me, especially all the episodes that come out each week.
