Alvin and the Chipmunks, the Squeakquel
Possibly the worst sequel ever (aside from Star Trek V, which never actually happened).Bruce Almighty said:

The original was awesome. Sure, it had some plot holes but overall it was about as serious as a PG movie could get without going into PG-13 territory. A bit of humor for the grown-ups as well.
I mean, how much worse can you botch sequels?
The first 3 Ninjas sequel cast different kids as Rocky and TumTum and changed the grandfather's name. I'm still confused.
And then, there's "3 Ninjas: High Noon at Mega Mountain" (3 Ninjas 3). The original cast is suddenly back. They fight Hulk Hogan in an amusement park. It made no sense.

High Noon at Mega Mountain was actually 3 Ninjas 4 & had all different kids.
3 Ninjas 3 was "Knuckle Up" & was absolutely terrible. So much worse than 3 Ninjas 2 "Kick Back". What's even more confusing is that 3 Ninjas 3 was filmed before 3 Ninjas 2 but was released after. And to add to the confusion, 3 Ninjas 3 had the 3 original kids & as mentioned above, 3 Ninjas 2 had only 1 original kid.
Did y'all follow all that?

They all suck compared to the chinese movies they copied from the mid 80's. The original Kung Fu Kids. Kung Fu Kids 2 even had em fighting at the Kumite.Ag 11 said:Moxley said:

I thought "Predator in the City" was a good way to do a sequel, and Danny Glover was nails. He had some great lines -- called the predator "P***yface" when the mask came off, just got through with a knock-down-drag-out epic fight and the others show up: "Who's next?"Zombie Jon Snow said:Proposition Joe said:Zombie Jon Snow said:
All Jaws sequels
Blues Brothers 2000
American Pie 2 or any of the straight to cable ones (although American Reunion was ok)
Son of the Mask
Dumb and Dumberer
Smokey and the Bandit 2
More American Graffiti
Look Who's Talking Too and Look Who's Talking Now
Honey I Blew Up the Kid and the rest
Caddyshack 2
Highlander II
Basic Instinct 2
Return to Oz
Arthur 2
Predator 2
Staying Alive
Some of this list are sequels that aren't as good as the original but still competent.
Nothing wrong with Jaws 2, American Pie 2, Return to Oz or Predator 2.
None are great movies or come close to the originals, but they are still decent watches.
While those may not be as bad as some of the others I have a particular distaste for sequels without the original cast - like Grease 2. Just money grabs on name only.
Jaws 2 - while it had Roy Scheder and was "decent" I really missed Richard Dreyfuss character.
American Pie 2 - maybe you are right, I guess it was American Wedding that lacked Oz, Heather, Vicky, Jessica and Nadia. they were all back for the Reunion one which was better.
Return to Oz - meh, of course none of the originals 40+ years later just didn't like it at all
Predator 2 - no Arnold = no bueno

Godfather 2 was arguably the greatest sequel ever made. Now Godfather 3 should have never been made.
But the third reboot of Dune is about to come out. End around.MuckRaker96 said:

Second biggest flaw. First was the nepotism casting of Sofia Coppola. Third was letting Garcia and Montegna play cartoon versions of mobsters.Bruce Almighty said:
Godfather 3's biggest flaw is that is followed two movies that are universally accepted to be among the 10 greatest movies ever made. On its own, I think the movie is pretty good, but when viewed within the trilogy, is completely over shadowed by the other two.
