I've heard her name; I really have no idea what she sings. I assume I've heard some of her songs.

I pay zero attention to who sings what anymore, frankly.

She is great, no doubt. In a *similar* vein, huge fan of Anneke van Geirsbergen esp. with Devin Townsend, but she's great w/ Vuur and The Gathering also.

Really enjoying all the links everyone is posting. Obviously any kind of consensus to the question is impossible to arrive at. I enjoy these threads because you get to hear artists you've never heard before, and it's really neat because everyone has different tastes in music and the artists reflect that. Please tell me youve heard their duet..

I almost posted it but wanted to focus specifically on Sharon.

And Elize Ryd is another. Nearly flawless talent, but I think Sharon has more of an emotional connection with her style.

Legs for dayyyyyyyyyyys. Got to see her at Walter's on Washington (really small venue in Houston) back in 2008. Place was half full and she still gave it everything and had everyone mesmerized.

I once read a review that said, "Every high school in America has a girl that can sing about as well as Trisha Yearwood." Scathing, for sure, but over the years I've realized there's a lot of truth to that. There are a LOT of good singers and even great singers (see above).

At great risk, I'll throw these out here as voices I'd rather listen to than most "perfect" voices:
