I don't know your style. I've met people that hated Breaking Bad.

There are a lot of people with bad taste out there.

It's no Breaking Bad, if that's what you're hoping for

Breaking Bad Is the best show ever. Not expecting that level.

I've tried it here and there, but this really just seems like a Dallas type premium soap opera, minus the humor. I can't see sitting through 2 seasons to find out when it gets good.

It provides just enough entertainment value for me to continue watching but if I had to wait week to week there's no chance I would keep up with it.

The overall quality of the show is not good and doesn't deserve any of the comparisons it gets.

Disagree the show is good but to compare to Breaking Bad because of similarities in theme doesnt do it justice

Probably top 3 on netflix right now

There's a thread about it on page 2 of this board, in case you are interested in reading 250 posts about it.

Accurate, though I'd say S1 ended quite strong.

Agree. Season two started really slow. I actually paused it for a few weeks after the third episode because it started dry. Definitely picked up in the second half of season two. Season three was great.

Weird, thought the pilot was the best I'd ever seen. Ending shot of them on the cliff with Decks Dark playing was incredible.

It doesn't. The acting is good, but the plot line is absurd. That said, the acting is good enough to sit through it. It ain't like... The Happening, or anything.

I thought it was decent, just lost interest about halfway through the first season and havent gotten around to finishing it. Anytime you have a talented comedic actor in a dramatic role its going to get attention.

The first few episodes are slow, but the things start picking up 2nd half of the season

I thoroughly enjoyed seasons 2 and 3

I'm as critical as they come, and admit that Ozark can be convoluted at times, but man, I'm baffled by some of the responses in this thread, especially compared to the official show threads. I love this series, and it's only gotten better with each season, IMO. This last season, in particular, was incredible. No show is more masterful at cranking up the tension to 11, only to have the characters figure out a last-second solve. Are some of those solves a little unbelievable at times? No doubt. But it sure does make for fun, crackling TV. I can't wait for season four.

You really need to give Dark another shot.

Agreed, the loudest voices on this are in the minority opinion in my view. Good show that is better than 90% of anything else that's out there.

I've been thinking I will. Might try to knock it out before I start The Americans.

You're not alone.

As far as I can tell, this show should be right in my wheelhouse. But I fought thru S1, then gave into my friends who convinced me to give it another shot. Made it through one or two episodes of S2, and then decided it's just not for me.

There is too much other good tv out there to waste time on something that doesn't "click" for you.

I started it last week, I'm about where you are, and I love it. The pilot was AWESOME and ep2 was solid. The last two have been nice steady builders...I don't expect every episode to be dialed up on all things tension and action.

Can't wait to see how this unfolds.

And Jason Bateman is greatness.

Love Jason Bateman.

Had no interest in returning to Ozark after S1.

I just don't buy the Bateman character or this plot at all. I think part of the brilliance of BB was making Walter White's transformation from nerdy science teacher to meth kingpin actually believable.

Courtesy of redd38, Ozark IMDb rating visualization

Basically if you're 4 episodes in, you've watched the second lowest rated episode in the show, and have the lowest rated one left to watch in a few episodes. And you can see that each season rating average increases as you go. I love Ozark. Is it prestige, The Wire/Breaking Bad level tv? No. But I'm interested in the characters and I find Bateman and his family are easy to root for, which is not something you always find in the "Crime Family" genre.

That said, there's no reason to watch something you're not enjoying. If you don't ever finish the show, you're not missing out on some huge important piece of television. Life is short, watch what you want.

Uh, did you actually watch the show? He made a **** ton of mistakes and was constantly having to dig himself out of errors Jesse and he made. Is it likely to happen IRL? No. But the writers did a great job of making it seem like it could. Ozark is just SMH stupid.

I bailed about half way through. It never seemed realistic.

I get that it's not likely to happen but the way they showed it didn't make you have to make a giant leap IMO. In Ozark they just jumped right in with "this average person has been laundering cartel money for a long time" like it needed no background. So ****ing dumb.
