Just closed the voting at 53 responses! Will get the results together and set up the cross-regional bracket now.

The results of Round 3! We had THREE ties.

#3 The Evil Dead and #7 The Ring each with 25 votes
#1 Young Frankenstein and #12 Tremors each with 25 votes
#3 Get Out and #10 10 Cloverfiled Lane each with 24 votes

Because of this, the format is going to change. I didn't want to rule out any of the tie-breakers myself. The final Region bracket will be a field of 17, with the 8,9, and 10 seed going against each other in a multiple choice vote.

I re-seeded the Sweet 17 based on the number of Round 3 votes that each movie received.

You had to reseed so that it is The Exorcist vs Young Frankenstein. Considering that I'm not really that big of a fan of the genre, I've had a number of tough decisions to make, more so than the tournaments we've had on this board of late.

Exorcist vs Silence of the Lambs?

My attempts to be critical for each of the entries:


Seven if a great crime thriller, but not really horror.

A Nightmare on Elm Street was one of the most significant horror films in regards to the industry, but it hasn't aged well and it's sequels have made it a punchline.

Halloween is superbly done, but essentially just refined what Black Christmas did a few years prior.

Alien is the top of the sci-fi/horro genre, but has a paper-thin story that's about as basic as they come.

Silence of the Lambs... see Seven.

The Shining is a Kubrick masterpiece, but absolutely took a **** all over the source material which was a 1000x better story.




The Exorcist and The Thing are absolutely perfect.

I'll take a huge maze over topiaries which magically come to life any day.

Ill take a strong family unit you are really rooting for over an ******* husband and a wife we all wanted axed before ghosts even showed up.

Actually it was the 4 and 5 matchup that was closer, and still is. Vote it you haven't people! Closing shortly.

The Elite 8 round is closed! Here are the results. The middle seed match ups were both very close the whole way.

The Final Four is here. It's a chalk final four, these movies were all #1 seeds in their respective regions and decimated all competition. Time for a true challenge!
